Kyle was not oblivious to the fact that Iras was the Instructor of the [Survival(practical)] course.
However, he couldn't neglect hunting beasts just because the teacher was somewhat of an asshole and irked him.
That was why Kyle chose the Survival course as the descriptions said that they would go out in the wild and hunt quite often.
This was quite important for him to save up more Soul energy which he would use at a later time.
And, if he were, to be honest, Kyle felt like provoking the noble Instructor as well.
Neither he nor his group had done anything to Iras in the first place.
As such, he wanted to figure out why he acted like this, and if it was truly just because they belonged to other races.
Maybe there was more behind his prejudice than his traditional thinking.
Either way, Kyle had to complete a main task for the Survival course, and the same could be said about the other courses.
Each of them was a necessity for him to improve further and be a superior cultivator.
While the Elemental Control courses were quite important for him to improve his proficiency with the Wind affinity, Kyle was sure that the Basic Elemental Control course was relatively easy.
And as expected, on the following day, when every student, who had applied for the Basic Elemental Control course, gathered in the open gymnasium, Kyle was quickly able to gain the interest of the Instructor.
The young, green-furred female Lohar taught both the Basic and Intermediate Elemental Control courses.
Because of that, she could quickly tell that Kyle only chose the Basic version of the course to secure good grades and to be eligible to apply for the Intermediate Elemental Control course as well.
There were a few applicants similar to him, but Kyle was special in the sense that his low cultivation base didn't restrict his usage in the wind affinity.
Rather, he controlled the consumption of his cultivated energy in a precise manner without losing control over his elemental attacks.
Knowing the elements of the wind very well herself, the female Instructor figured that Kyle must have worked for years and honed his control over the wind affinity.
He didn't make many mistakes if some of them could even be called such.
There were simply a few things that amateurs would miss out on, and consider these things as mistakes.
'He conjures his own winds because he doesn't want other wind affinity wielders to start a fight over controlling the neutral winds…I see!'
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtBeing considered an Expert, the female Instructor quickly decided that it would be a waste of time for Kyle to study the Basic Elemental Control course as he seemed to have mastered it.
Thus, once the first lesson was over, she graded him immediately.
However, in order to be fair, she graded him in accordance with the same criteria the other students would have to face in half a year, once the first term was over.
But that was no problem for Kyle, and he finished the 'final' exam of his first course within a handful of minutes, using the Crescent wind blades, whose trajectory he could change as and when he wanted.
"If you want, you can also join the Advanced Elemental Control Course. It might be insightful for you, even if I doubt that you will be able to get a good grade.
But don't let your grades affect your choices of the courses you want to join. It's fine to get bad grades as long as you learn something out of it."
The female Instructor advised him after she had roughly assessed how proficient his control over the wind affinity was.
It was certainly high, but he repeated unwanted motions way too often.
Thus, she gave him the advice to apply for the Advanced Elemental Control course, even if it was well past 24 hours to choose their courses.
Kyle just nodded his head when he received this advice, and spent some time thinking about it before he moved toward the second course of the day.
It was [Advanced Combat Training].
To be able to join the Advanced Combat training right off the bat, Kyle had been tested on the day they chose their courses.
In the end, Kyle was pretty sure that his combat proficiency was not Advanced, but owing to his reputation after the Brawl and the incident with the nobles, everything turned a little bit upside down.
His reputation from the Brawl was a little bit twisted.
It made him seem as if he was a God of fighting, with decades of experience in fighting against all kinds of existences, everywhere, and at any given point of time.
Because of that, and after winning the short spar against one of the young men who was in charge of the Combat training's stall, Kyle ended up in the Advanced Combat Training course.
The course was three hours long, and Kyle quickly noticed that most other participants were at the Krysal stage.
Thus, he lost each spar he had participated in, whether it was because of his opponents' physical strength that was much higher than his, or because of their combat experience.
But none of that really mattered to Kyle because he was pretty sure that the pressure of sparring against more powerful opponents allowed him to correct his mistakes and improve much faster.
He knew that both Beatrice and Yasmine had a higher combat experience than him.
Their fighting style was also more refined, which was also owing to the martial art techniques they used.
However, Kyle was neither in possession of a proper martial art technique as both techniques he had were amongst the worst, nor was he as experienced as the Phoenix princess, or the 50,000 years old descendant of an unknown Old race!
Only Selene's fighting experience was worse than his which was why she had applied for both the Basic and Intermediate Combat Training courses.
She might have already passed the Basic Combat Training course but Selene felt like she had missed out quite a lot during her first term.
Thus, she repeated it to imprint everything in her mind, while striving forward.
Now that she had reunited with Kyle, her motivation and determination to advance and become stronger had increased by leaps and bounds.
Owing to this seemingly simple fact, Selene was ready to give her all!
But the same applied to Yasmine and Beatrice, who had chosen to pick training courses for new weapons, instead of the basic form of the Combat training.
Selene was the best candidate to become an assassin in their group owing to her darkness affinity.
She was fast owing to the cultivation of her body and could use her entire mana with the darkness affinity she possessed, which allowed her to move in the darkness.
At least that was what Beatrice believed to be possible in the future.
Even after switching her weapons, Beatrice had been unsure of what to do in the beginning.
Long-range fights were nothing for her owing to her blood affinity and the special trait that allowed her to use the blood in her surroundings to her advantage.
Her special trait was also something similar to a blood armor, allowing her to turn into a deadly tank.
That was, at least, what Kyle had thought of her, believing that she would be the best of something similar to a Berserker.
But even then, Kyle was not sure whether wielding a war axe would suit her, or not.
Thus, Beatrice chose to test out multiple weapons in order to figure out which one she was the most compatible with.
Meanwhile, Yasmine simply switched from her daggers to both a spear and a bow!
Her affinity was pretty good to use with a bow and an arrow, and she had learned to create lethal attacks that didn't use up much mana.
If properly trained, Yasmine was bound to become a fearsome archer.
She had already been trained in the bow and spear but that had been a while ago.
Thus, she had chosen all three difficulties in the courses of the bow and spear and easily passed the Basic courses.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmOn the other hand, it wouldn't take her long to pass the Intermediate Bow/Spear Training course as well.
Meanwhile, Kyle was lying on the sandy ground of the open gymnasium with his back drenched in sweat, and fine grains of sand sticking to his clothes.
His entire body was riddled with bruises and cuts, but not a single injury he had sustained was serious.
And, the fact that Kyle was currently smiling brightly caused even the Instructor of the Advanced Combat Training course to look at him oddly.
Kyle had been defeated within three seconds, ending his spar almost immediately.
If he were to have been in a life-and-death battle, his life would have ended by now.
And this was something Kyle was fully aware of.
In fact, this was what caused him to smile.
'So it's not useless to remain in the Glory Knight academy. There is still something all of us can learn!'
After the first day was over, Kyle and the others gathered, before sharing their experiences.
Nobody was truly surprised about what each of them had done, but neither complained about everything being too easy.
The difficulty of the courses might not be something that could hold their interest for several decades, but Kyle predicted that they would need two or three years before the Glory Knight academy would lose its value to them.
This was quite a long time, and if they worked relentlessly every single day, they might be a little bit faster.
But then again, rushing was not always the best, and Kyle predicted that his other courses would be quite useful for a long time.
And this included even the Survival course as they were prepared to enter a specific valley where numerous Vitae stage beasts and thousands of Krysal stage beasts were living.
Instructor Iras ignored Kyle as well as possible, and simply started his class as usual, teaching everyone about how to survive in the wilderness, what kind of dangers could be lurking in the shadows, what to pay attention to, and so on.
Their final exam would be the said trip to the valley, where they would have to survive for a specific period of time that would be given to them before the start of the exam.
Surviving was already enough to pass, and killing a specific number of beasts within a certain radius would earn them a better grade, and more points.
However, it was obvious that surviving was the first and foremost priority, which should be evident.
Other than the Survival course, there was also the high number of Blacksmithing courses that Kyle had applied to.
If he were to be staying in one place for quite some time, it should be possible to learn more about forging.
As such, he chose as many Blacksmithing courses as possible with his schedule, feeling like it was a necessity to improve himself as quickly as possible!
Kyle was ready to spend half of his time within the academy in front of the forge.
After all, forging calmed him, and it allowed him to think about many things. Through forging, it was possible for him to create his own equipment and that of his partners, and to sell the goods he had produced, providing him with one more path to accumulate wealth!
