Chapter 131 Sarah pov.
The office was bustling, as usual. I walked through the space, my eyes scanning the place that had once felt so overwhelming to me. It felt like just yesterday I was trying to keep up with everything-emails, meetings, deadlines. Now, Zoe had it all under control. It was almost... strange. And a little bit freeing.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtI stopped by Zoe's desk, watching her juggle a few phone calls at once while she typed away at her computer. She didn't even look up as I approached. "You're like a superhero," I said, leaning on the edge of her desk. She glanced up, givinga grin. "It's a gift," she said, unbothered. "I'm just multitasking like a pro." "You're makingfeel totally irrelevant here," I joked, crossing my arms. "I'm practically a ghost in this place now." Zoe laughed and shook her head. "Oh please, Sarah, don't act like you're not still the boss. You can't just vanish off the face of the Earth and expect us to forget about you." She leaned back in her chair, raising an eyebrow. "But, you know, you do seem a little more... relaxed these days." I couldn't help but laugh. "Yeah, I'm trying to be. But it's hard to let go. You're both doing such a great job, though. I feel like I'm just here for moral support now." Zoe gavea quick wink. "Well, I'm sure you still have plenty of ideas to share. But I think we've got things covered. And hey, it's nice to see you actually *taking* a break for once." I nodded, feeling a sense of pride at how far we'd come. The business was in good hands, and Zoe had stepped up in ways I never expected. It felt good to know I could step back without everything falling apart.
As I made my way to the next section of the office, I caught sight of a senior staff member, who was speaking with a group of employees. She looked up and waved at me.
"Hey, Sarah!" she called out, her usual bright energy filling the space. "Looking good today! You sure you don't want to jump in and take over this project too?" I rolled my eyes, a smile tugging at my lips. "Please, no. I'm officially on vacation mode. You're the ones in charge now." She laughed, clearly amused. "Well, we'll make sure to keep the ship afloat while you enjoy stoff." I glanced around at the team, all working seamlessly together. A year ago, this had been my responsibility, and now it felt like I was watching from the sidelines. It was a strange but welcfeeling.
Later, we sat down for lunch at a nearby café. Zoe and I had beccloser over the past few months, and I appreciated the way she could make everything feel lighter, even when the office stuff felt like it was piling up. "I have to admit," I said, taking a sip of my iced tea. "It's kind of nice to just... not have to make every decision." Zoe smirked, picking up her sandwich. "I knew it. You're secretly enjoying being hands-off now, huh?" I raised an eyebrow. "I'm not secretly enjoying it, but... yeah, I guess I am. I used to think I had to be involved in every little thing, but now I'm realizing that maybe I don't have to meddle so much." Zoe leaned back in her chair, glancing atover the top of her sandwich. "You're a born meddler, though. I think it's in your blood." I laughed, shaking my head. "Maybe. But I'm trying to let go a little. You have been doing an amazing job. I'm proud of you." She smiled. "Well, I'm glad you're taking a step back. It'll be good for you to focus on... other things." I could tell there was more she wanted to say, but I wasn't sure how to interpret the way she looked at me. "Other things, huh?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. "Like what?" Zoe set down her sandwich and gavea meaningful look. "Like... your future. You're going to be a mom, Sarah. That's a big deal." The mention of being a mom made my heart race. Sometimes it still felt surreal, like I was living someone else's life.
But I knew Zoe was right. My focus needed to shift. The company had been my world for so long, but now I had a new responsibility-one that felt a lot more important than running a business. "Yeah, I guess you're right," I said softly. "But it's hard, you know? I've spent so much tbuilding this, and I just... don't know how to stop worrying about it." Zoe nodded, understanding. "I get it. But you will figure it out. You don't have to do everything alone. You've got a whole team behind you." "True," I admitted, taking a deep breath. "I just have to trust you guys more. Trust that things will be okay, even if I'm not *all* over everything." Zoe smiled, her tone lightening again. "Exactly. So, no more meddling, okay? You've earned a break." I laughed. "Deal. But only if you promise not to makefeel guilty for not being here all the time." "Deal," she said, holding out her hand. "Now, let's talk about something more fun. Like baby names. I'm already taking suggestions." I groaned, shaking my head. "You're the worst." That evening, Richard and I sat on the balcony of our hotel, overlooking the city as the sky turned darker.
The air was warm and smelled of the ocean, and the sound of distant music drifted up from the streets. It felt peaceful-like the calm after a storm.

He wrapped his arm around me, holdingclose. "I know. You've ca long way, Sarah. You've built something amazing here." I let out a soft sigh. "It's just hard to let go of it. But I'm trying. I think... I think I'm finally starting to get it. That I don't have to do everything myself."
Richard turned his head to kiss the top of my head. "I'm proud of you you know? You're not just running a business, you're running a life. And now you're going to be a mom. That's a whole new chapter."
I smiled, feeling my heart swell with love for him. "It feels scary sometimes. But I'm starting to realize that Idon't have to carry all the weight on my own. I've got you, Zoe, and everyone else who's been supporting me." "You don't have to do anything alone, Sarah," Richard said softly, his voice full of certainty. "We'll figure it out together." I looked up at him, feeling my eyes water. "I'm scared, Richard. About being a mom, about everything changing."
He gently cupped my face in his hands, looking into my eyes. "You're going to be a great mom. And we'll faee whatever comes, side by side. You don't have to be scared." I nodded, trying to calm the storm of emotions inside me. "I know. And... I think I'm ready."
