Chapter 116 Qualified Owner
Nancy turned around in shock, obviously not expecting that Lewis had returned as well. But she quickly
gathered herself and said in a deep voice, “You didn’t even greet me when you saw me, and the first
thing you say is ‘Where is she?’ There are so many women here. Who are you asking for?”
Lewis’ gaze swept over Nancy’s and Daphne’s faces as he asked again, “Where is Josephine?”
“Josephine again. All you talk about is Josephine. Do you not see me as your mother anymore?”
Lewis furrowed his brows and walked away. He did not want to waste time talking about useless stuff
with Nancy. As he arrived at the door, Nancy said, “Stop right there!”
Lewis did not turn to face her.
Nancy was furious. She immediately raised her voice and shouted, “Lewis Alvarez, I repeat, stop right
there!”
An unspoken threat lingered within those words, understood only by the two of them. Lewis came to a
halt but refrained from turning to face her. Nancy, on the other hand, stood
up from the couch and made her way toward him, positioning herself directly in front of him. She looked
up at him and said, “Lewis, I know what happened at the company. Robert called you back for that,
right?”
Lewis shifted his gaze to look at her face. “So what?”
Nancy was agitated by his attitude. She said in a low voice, “Lewis, I’m your mother. I won’t harm you.”
Lewis remained silent.
“Daphne told me that you helped her sell her stocks. However, if I’m guessing correctly, you were the
one who purchased them, weren’t you?”

Nancy said, “Although I don’t know what your plans are, if you promise to divorce the mute, I can give
you my shares.”
Lewis laughed at her words.
Nancy thought he had agreed, so she added, “She’s just a mute. Our family has been benevolent
enough to provide for her all these years. You don’t need to sacrifice your happiness. Do you
understand what I mean?”
“So you’re saying you’ll only give me your shares if I divorce Josephine?”
“Of course. My son should not marry a mute. As long as you divorce her, I would not mind even if you
married Sierra!”
Lewis replied, “Mom, do you think I’m still a kid?”
His response took Nancy aback.
Lewis stared intently at her; his cold and indifferent eyes sent a chill down Nancy’s heart. They were
family, but the way Lewis looked at her was no better than looking at a stranger.
After Lewis said that, he left without turning back.
Nancy’s nails dug into her palms as she gazed at the towering figure, questioning when he had grown
so tall that she now had to look up at him. It dawned on her that he had become a fully grown man, no
longer the obedient son who unquestioningly adhered to her every word.
Nancy’s heart throbbed with pain, causing her to clutch her chest and nearly lose her balance. The
nearby housekeeper rushed to steady her. Her voice quivered with sorrow, and there was an undertone
of reluctance as she choked out, “I’m doing this for his own good. How could he treat me like this?”
“Madam, Master Lewis is almost thirty now. If you continue to restrict him, he’ll resent it.” When Lewis
discovered Josephine, he found her being forcefully pressed to the ground on her shoulders by two
household staff members while her knees were bloodied.
The searing pain stemming from her knee surged, spreading throughout Josephine’s body. Just as she
was about to crumble, they abruptly pulled her upright, compelling her to kneel on the glass shards.
Despite the wintry conditions, a sheen of cold sweat covered her forehead, and her hair, drenched in
perspiration, stuck to her face.
Just as Josephine was about to faint, she saw a figure walking toward her from the corner of her eye.
She opened her eyes, and Lewis’ tall figure came into view. It was just like how he had saved her from
danger when she was younger.
The household staff saw Lewis’ gloomy face and looked at each other, terrified. However, they did not
dare to let go of Josephine as well.
Lewis did not waste any time talking to them. He grabbed one of the household staff and pushed her
away. He lowered his body and carried Josephine in his arms.
The other household staff stood there, puzzled. After Lewis lifted Josephine from the ground, he kicked
the household staff’s knee. Her legs buckled, and she ended up kneeling on the shattered glass. She
screamed in pain and wanted to get up, but Lewis shouted, “Kneel there and don’t move!”
His voice was deep, sending a shiver down the household staff’s spine. She had no choice but to
continue kneeling on the glass shards.
Lewis looked at the other household staff, and she trembled. He said, “Come here and get on your
knees!”
“Master Lewis…”
“On the count of three!”
The household staff ran over, crawling and stumbling along the way. Both of them knelt on the broken
glass. The sharp pieces pierced their skin, making them grimace in pain. Nancy hurried over, furious at

I’m not dead yet. Who said you could be in charge here?”
Lewis gave Nancy a cold look and replied, “I’m not dead yet. Who said you could punish my woman?”
“You… Are you trying to kill me?” Nancy was so enraged that tears fell from her eyes.
“You won’t die so easily,” Lewis said this and left with Josephine.
“Stop right there! Lewis Alvarez! If you dare to leave with this mute, I’ll kill myself in front of you!”
Lewis ignored her. A loud shriek came from behind just as they were almost out of sight. ” Madam!”
Lewis paused briefly, realizing the potential for extreme actions fueled by anger. Without a moment’s
hesitation, Nancy threw herself towards the tree, disregarding any consequences. As Lewis shifted his
attention, he saw Nancy lying on the ground, causing his face to darken
even more.
Josephine, who was in his arms, slowly opened her eyes and looked at his face. She grimaced and
struggled to get off his arms. Nancy was his mother. Josephine knew well who he would choose. But to
her surprise, Lewis tightened his embrace on her before she could get off and went to the car without
turning back.
Josephine could not help but look at him again. A myriad of complex emotions danced within his eyes,
and tears began to flow.
He was competent, but he was also cruel. He was able to reignite the love in her heart every time she
was about to give up on him. He could bring her back under his control by using any means necessary.
He could make her wear the chains willingly and obediently wag her tail for him. He was a qualified
master.
Placing her in the car, Lewis swiftly got behind the wheel and drove straight to the hospital. Once they
reached their destination, Lewis tenderly carried her out of the vehicle. Josephine clung to him, her
tearful eyes locking onto his. In that instant, they shared an intense gaze. Time stood still, and the air
around them seemed to freeze momentarily.
