When Jake got up, he was welcomed by a barrage of Poisonous bolts, which he blocked with his sword after storing the spear in his magic box. The smell of poison around was getting thicker, so Jake's vision was also getting blurred. He considered that the enemy might run out of mana soon while attacking that often. However, he gave up on the idea once he recalled how much mana the monster still had and how high its recovery was… he had to think of another solution to the problem and fast since his health was decreasing fast.
Without much of a choice, Jake charged toward the enemy even though he knew that he needed to use some health potions. When he was about to reach the enemy, the boss blocked his path by swinging its tail. Jake was sent back to his original position, but at least he had the chance to cast Regeneration a few times. Weirdly enough, he didn't mind using magic. Maybe it was because he couldn't afford to think too much… or because the situation was different than usual.
The monster began to use the crossbow again, and Jake could tell that the creature would keep using that strategy until he was killed… While running around, Jake observed the creature. As expected, the monster couldn't use its right arm well, so when Jake was running in that direction, the beast had a hard time fixing its stance. It was time to use his nasty tactics against that beast, no only that, he was also looking forward to it.
All of a sudden, Jake used Thunder Slash, and the boss didn't even think of dodging it since the mana level on the skill was low. However, the beast regretted that when Jake suddenly summoned a wall of dark flames, and the first skill was enveloped in that. The monster used Dash to the side, but the boss still was caught. The combination of attacks burned a good part of the upper body of the boss, even if it didn't paralyze the beast with the damage, it did enough to let Jake approach…
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHowever, a wall of Poisonous arrows blocked Jake's path at the last moment. It was so massive that he couldn't afford to keep going, and he would be by a number enough to kill him… As soon as the enemy fired that, Jake used Flash to the side with all his might. He managed to escape the first wave, but that also gave the enemy to summon others to completely block his chances of charging or of using Dark flames.
Jake could only curse how annoyingly smart that boss was… The creature had a lot of experience, just like the other groups of ordinary monsters. The boss began to fire those large groups of projectiles at the same time he made others. Attacking ruthlessly and defending firmly was something easy that the enemy could do now, apparently.
In any case, Jake kept using dash to the sides, hoping that the enemy would run out of mana faster than they would run out of gas. Still, he knew better than waiting for such a convenient thing to happen. His vision was getting blurred, so Jake knew that he had to do something and fast…
"The enemy already knows the power or the dark flames… Might as well go all out with it," Jake thought.
Jake enhanced his sword with the flames, and his vision got even more blurred. He knew that he had the chance just for one more attack, so he couldn't mess up. So, he suddenly charged toward the boss…
The creature summoned even more Poisonous arrows around itself and fired them at Jake. All of a sudden, Jake began to spin the sword in a small arc and made the flames to create a shield that blocked the projectiles. The monster tries to move away since those kinds of projectiles don't slow Jake down even a bit. They were focused on causing damage, after all. Still, using his last reserves of mana, Jake used Flash. The monster knew that he would do that, so it used its tail like a whip to stop him. In the end, the tail strike stopped Jake…
However, in the next moment, the sword's flames began to move, and the monster hadn't seen that before. Before Jake could be thrown to the other side of the room, the flames and the Blades grinded away their past and cut through the massive and thick tail. In the next moment, Jake's sword arrived at the throat of the monster.
The beast grabbed the sword and tried to fight Jake back, but the flames helped him on, making the beast lose health and have its neck and hands get completely cut. The movements and the flames' power were much more intense than before, so the beast was beheaded in no time. Jake finally won and he confirmed that when he received the coins as a reward for killing the monster.

Blood didn't even gush from the wound since the dark flames burned everything. In the end, only the head of the monster rolled on the ground, showing the battle's end. Jake was exhausted, but he still managed to walk toward the crossbow before he fell to the ground, almost unconscious. Before long, he was teleported to his base, and the cold of the now helped him deal with the pain caused by his broken bones.

Somehow, Jake managed to stay conscious while his body was healing in the snow. He realized that the next boss battle would probably kill him unless he took his time since he wasn't getting stronger faster than the balance of power between the missions. Maybe that was why the guilds weren't so far ahead of him anymore.
