Ricardo was furious. “Have you gone nuts? If you don’t love Mr. Melendez, then who do you love? Who can be

better than Mr. Melendez? Wake up and go back to him! It’s not too late to fix things. I believe if you apologize to

Mr. Melendez now, he will forgive you.”

“I’ve slept with other men; will he forgive me?”

Ricardo was speechless. “No way, those photos only showed you and other men from the back. You can totally say

they were photoshopped.”

“No, those photos are real. I really slept with other men. I don’t want to lie; I don’t want to deceive him.”

After a moment of silence, Clara said, “Ricardo, thank you for taking care of me at the company during this time. I

have one last request. Will you take care of Emmett for me? I know that after hearing all this, he will be upset and

bury himself in work. He won’t eat and will stay in the office all the time. Please try to persuade him.”

Ricardo hesitated for a moment and then frowned. “You clearly care about him. I knew you couldn’t possibly not

have feelings for him. Mr. Melendez is so great. How could any other man compare?”

“I just have feelings of friendship for him. We’ve been together for so long, so even if it was a friend or even a pet, I

“Hold on…” Ricardo wanted to say something, but Clara hung up the phone.

Ricardo stomped his foot in anger as he stared at the black screen of his phone.

What the hell was going on? How did a loving couple end up like this?

Ricardo couldn’t understand why Clara would choose to give up on becoming Mrs. Melendez. That was what

countless women dreamed of.

In the evening, the doors of the emergency room finally opened, and the red light went out.

Leah was wheeled out, and Sophia quickly approached her. “How is she now?”

The doctor took off his mask and smiled in relief. “She’s out of danger now. The bleeding has stopped. She just

needs to rest and recuperate.”

“Really? That’s great!” Sophia immediately followed the doctor into the ward. Leah was still in a coma, so she asked

worriedly, “But why hasn’t she woken up yet?”

“She’s still under anesthesia. She may wake up after a while. If she doesn’t open her eyes in the next ten minutes,

shake her and call her name.”

Sophia nodded. “Alright, I understand.”

they left the ward.

Not long after, Patrick Melendez arrived. He pushed open the door and saw his wife sitting by the bed.

“So this is the birth mother of our two grandchildren?”

Sophia nodded. “Yes.”

Patrick sighed, “Hmm, I understand what you mean now. She really would sacrifice herself for the two kids. That’s

something a stepmother couldn’t do.”

Sophia responded, “I told you so!” She looked at him and continued. “You think I’ve been causing trouble in the

family and disturbing our son, but you never thought about why I did what I did. Isn’t this all for the sake of the

children? You’re their grandfather, and I’m their biological grandmother. We should both think more about their

future, instead of just being happy that our son and Clara are happy and forgetting about this.”
