Chapter 36 When Cyrus removed Nancy's jacket, he saw her white blouse, two buttons undone, revealing more than intended. Even the fabric over her shoulders appeared torn.
Cyrus was livid, his hands finding Nancy's neck in a grip fueled by betrayal. "Nancy, how dare you! I asked you to sign a contract, and you dare seduce Baldrick? If I hadn't had a private investigator on your tail, I'd be clueless about being cuckolded." Nancy's breathing hitched, her face turning pale as Cyrus' words cut deep. "Isn't this what you wanted?" she sneered, mocking him to have left her to a scumbag like Ogden for Hayley.

In a fit of anger, Cyrus pushed Nancy down on the couch, starting to tear at her blouse. "You turneddown but let Baldrick touch you? Are you keeping yourself for him?" he accused, his words laced with venom. "The Robertson family would never approve of someone like you. If it weren't for you saving my mother, do you think the Gordon family would've welcomed you?" Nancy's front was exposed, but Cyrus' harsh words finally broke her. "Then don't welcme! Maybe we should get a divorce, Cyrus. Consider itrealizing my mistake!" Cyrus' eyes were red and fury, and he couldn't believe Nancy's words. "A divorce? Over Baldrick?" Why a divorce? Was Cyrus clueless? The ensuing silence only fueled Cyrus' misunderstandings further.
"Unbelievable," Cyrus loomed over her, "no wonder you were taken advantage of before. With your history of falling so easily, maybe it was you who seduced him, wasn't it?" Nancy felt her world stop at his accusation, a curse she thought she had escaped. Hearing Cyrus say those words felt like a final blow, confirming her worst fears.
Cyrus watched as Nancy's face turned ghostly pale and her body shook uncontrollably. A part of him felt a pang of regret, but jealousy clouded his judgment. His mind was consumed with thoughts of a possible affair between Nancy and Baldrick.
"Nancy, I'm warning you, drop the idea of leaving me, or else—" Before he could finish, Nancy's hand connected with his face, a slap that echoed in the room. "Cyrus, you dare " Another slap followed, her anger and frustration pouring out with each strike.
"I've had enough! Get out, Cyrus! I don't want to see you again!" Cyrus' face stung, his temper flaring, yet seeing Nancy's distraught figure made him bite back his anger, a bitter taste in his mouth.
