Chapter 171 Nancy looked up, her mood instantly souring, as she spotted Cyrus and Sarah approaching. Judson, standing beside her, shared her sentiment, his eyes filled with disdain. "Great, just when you thought your day couldn't get worse," he muttered. "Running into them is like stepping in something unpleasant on the sidewalk." Nancy silently agreed, feeling her good mood evaporate at the sight of them.
Cyrus, oblivious to Judson's comment, was making his way over, intent on speaking to Nancy. But Judson swiftly stepped in front of her, his tall fracting as an unwavering barrier.

Anyone else might have backed down, but Judson wasn't just anyone. He met Cyrus' gaze with a smirk that was anything but friendly. "You think you deserve that?" he replied, his voice dripping with sarcasm. The tension between them was palpable, like the crackle of a bonfire ready to ignite.
Meanwhile, Sarah watched the standoff, her feelings a twisted mix of envy and frustration. She masked it with a feigned innocence, addressing Nancy, "Ms. Gonzalez, I know you saw Cyrus takinghouse hunting, and it upset you. That's why you brought Judson along, isn't it?" "But honestly, Cyrus and I are just friends," she added, her tone overly sweet.
Nancy arched an eyebrow, dismissing Sarah's words with a sharp quip, "And your relationship with him matters tobecause...?" Her eyes were clear and mocking, leaving Sarah momentarily speechless.
Cyrus, however, seemed a bit resigned. "Nancy, if you weren't upset, you wouldn't be here. Don't tellyou cto buy a house; you can't afford these places right now." Sarah chimed in with a smirk, "Yeah, Ms. Gonzalez, I know you made quite a bit from The Sandro Group, but these houses in Maple Grove Residences are the priciest in Ardenweald. I only got a viewing thanks to Cyrus." Her condescension was unmistakable. "You probably didn't even know you needed an appointment, did you?" she taunted.
Judson's eyes narrowed dangerously. "Whether we get a house or not is none of your business. You might want to watch your mouth; you'll end up eating your words." Sarah bristled at Judson's words, her anger barely contained, yet something about his cold stare unnerved her. She had never felt intimidated by anyone else, so why did Nancy's supposed "boy toy" unsettle her so much? Nancy remained calm, her gaze cool and detached as she addressed Cyrus, tinged with a hint of derision. "Cyrus, don't flatter yourself. My business here has nothing to do with you. You do your thing, and I'll do mine. Simple as that." With that, she took Judson's hand and turned away. "Let's go," she said firmly.

As Nancy and Judson headed toward the reception, Cyrus felt a knot of om unease tighten in his chest, haunted by the look Nancy had given him. Could it be she genuinely wasn't here because of him? Before he could collect his thoughts, he felt a tug on his sleeve. He looked down to see Sarah gazing up at him, concern etched on her face.
"Cyrus," she said, a note of urgency in her voice, "Nancy must have heard something and that's why she's here. What if she insists on buying this house?"
"Don't worry," Cyrus reassured her, though his voice carried a hint of frustration. "I promised it to you, and I keep that promise. Evergreen Global's issues with Nancy are my problem, not yours. As her husband, it's only fair I compensate you."
