Chapter 1555
A gentle soul? Marcus recalled the day when that little girl’s hands were clenched around his neck, as if she wished
to strangle him to death.
She was indeed gentle, considering she didn’t actually kill him.
The door behind him suddenly stirred, and the knob was turning.
Marcus was instantly on guard, returning to his usual stoic demeanor.
Sophia pushed open the door. After seeing the child whispering something to the man, a flicker of unease passed
through her eyes. She smiled and asked, “Awake, Tristan? What were you and your dad chatting about?”

Sophia didn’t doubt him, and she began smiling gently. “Oh, I came to ask what you two would like for dinner. We’re
running low on groceries, so I was thinking of going to the store.”
Marcus looked at her and spoke in an unusually soft tone. “You don’t need to. You’ve been out all day; you must be
tired. Let’s just order room service from the hotel.”
Sophia was touched that Marcus was showing concern for her. “Marcus, it’s alright. I enjoy cooking for you and
Tristan.”
Marcus insisted. “You can cook tomorrow; rest for today. Plus, Tristan says he’s hungry now; room service would be
faster.”
Sophia’s smile froze, thinking he was showing concern for her, only to find out he was more worried about her
cooking taking too long and delaying Tristan’s meal.
“Okay, I’ll order Tristan’s favorites from the hotel.”
“Sure.”
Sophia was about to call room service, but when she saw the boy next to Marcus, she suddenly felt bitter.
“Tristan, come here. Help Mommy order from room service. You can tell them directly what you want.”
She feigned a smile at the boy who wasn’t Tristan.
Adrian didn’t like Sophia and didn’t hide it. He snorted. “I don’t want to go with you. I want to stay with Dad.”
Sophia’s face turned sour, but she forced a smile. “Sweetie, Mommy just wants to help you order food.”
Adrian still clung to Marcus, ignoring Sophia.

Worried Sophia might notice something off, Marcus ruffled Adrian’s hair. “Be good; go on. Order whatever you want
from room service and get a plate of beef lasagna for me too.”
“Okay!” Adrian finally acquiesced and marched towards Sophia. “Let’s go. I’m coming with you.”
Sophia really wanted to smack the boy, but it wasn’t the right time to show her true colors, so she forced a smile.
“That’s a good boy. Come with Mommy.”
After watching Adrian leave with Sophia, Marcus squinted his eyes, then glanced at the balcony where the wicker
chair he knocked over during his exercise was.
Good, Sophia didn’t notice it.
Sophia led the boy to the phone but didn’t call room service immediately. Instead, she stared at the boy, her smile
tinged with a hint of malice, “Tristan, why don’t you want to be with Mommy anymore?”
Adrian glared at Sophia with his big eyes. “Did I ever enjoy being with you?”
