Chapter 462

"Yes, you didn't want this, and you tried hard," Ethan said slowly. "But they didn't want to die either. You might as

well have tried to kill them from the start. At least then they would've understood why."

Stephen's eyes reddened, and his body grew colder with every word Ethan said. However, he could not argue.

Every death so far was connected to his actions.

"I'm sorry," Stephen choked at Jeremy's grave. "I didn't mean to. | really didn't know... | couldn't tell... | had no

choice."

"You did have a choice."

A young woman's voice suddenly interrupted him from behind.

Stephen froze, then slowly turned to see a young woman approaching. It was Ginny, Fabian's sister. Ethan had

asked for her to come.

"You always had a choice," Ginny said while looking at Stephen, the man who had indirectly caused her brother's

death. "You could've saved everyone. Nobody had to die. But every time, you chose the wrong path."

Stephen watched in a daze as Ginny gently placed a small bouquet on Jeremy's grave.

"Every time, | made the wrong choice." The realization hit Stephen hard, leaving him disoriented.

Ginny stood up and looked at the grave before her, sighing helplessly. It was impossible not to hate Jeremy, but

she never expected him to die too.

"He carried on your brother's legacy," Ethan said beside her, "and he did it well." "Yes." Ginny nodded quietly.

She knew about Jeremy's situation., The South Regent had told her everything, and she was shocked when she

learned that Jeremy had decided to put himself in harm's way.

Jeremy had done well, perfectly completing what her brother could not

accomplish. It was just unfortunate that he got involved with someone as useless as Stephen.

Now, all their efforts were wasted. Both Fabian and Jeremy had sacrificed themselves for nothing.

Ethan took out two books and handed them to Ginny. "Before Jeremy left, he got

these signed for you."

Ginny took the books, momentarily lost in thought. They were Ethan's globally bestselling works, each with his

signature on the first page. Getting Ethan's autograph was something her brother had wanted to do for her.

Tears fell from Ginny's cheeks and onto the book covers. She had finally gotten her idol's signature, but there

was no joy in it. She felt three people should have been receiving these signatures, not just her alone.

Ginny turned and confronted Stephen with her tear-stained face. "Why did you have to kill everyone?"

Looking at Ginny's tear-streaked face, Stephen had no answers.

How many people had he hurt through his mistakes? How many more would he continue to hurt?

The images of Snow, Mrs. Sanders and her daughter, and Rachel in tears flashed before him. He also saw Julius,

Tommy, and Jeremy dying before his eyes.

Ginny's words were the final straw that broke Stephen. He collapsed to the ground and stared at the sky with

lifeless eyes, looking like a corpse.

"Let's go," Ethan said, leading Ginny away.

About fifteen minutes later, Nolan, worried that Stephen had not returned, clooking for him. He was startled

to find Stephen lying on the ground.

"Sir, what's wrong?" He rushed forward to help Stephen up.

Stephen's face was paper-white, and his voice was weak as he muttered repeatedly, "I'm sorry. | didn't mean to."

Stephen's broken state triggered a deep, buried fear within Nolan, and his own face turned ashen.

He had seen that before with his brother Max, who constantly apologized after the traumatic incident before

eventually committing suicide.

"Help!" Nolan screamed in terror.
