Chapter 144 +25 BONUS Thick tension hung in the air as Kris and Thalassa worked together to prepare breakfast. Thalassa kept her distance, focusing on chopping vegetables while Kris rinsed the potatoes and placed them in a bowl as instructed.

"I'm done," Kris announced after a few minutes. He wished he could peel them himself, but that was impossible with one arm in a sling.

"You can hand them over," Thalassa said, her voice as stiff as ever.

Nodding, Kris took the bowl and reached it out to her. She was so intent on avoiding their hands touching that the bowl nearly slipped from her hand.

"Careful," Kris said, quickly placing his hand under hers to keep the bowl steady, feeling her tense up.

The position brought them close, their breaths quickening as they stared into each other's eyes until Thalassa cleared her throat and freed her hand from his, setting the bowl onto the counter.

The rest of the cooking passed in silence, with Kris stealing glances at her every chance he got, taking in every inch of her bare, gorgeous face and body. Thalassa did her best to avoid looking at him, even when she had to give him instructions.

After almost an hour, they finished cooking and set the table together. Just then, Luisa arrived with their two security guards, each carrying several bags of groceries to the kitchen. Once they were done, she cto the table, "Oh, wow!" she exclaimed, looking at the dishes. "Aren't you two a fantastic duo?" Thalassa glared at her in irritation, but Luisa's wink made Kris's heart warm. Even though she had said she wouldn't interfere, Luisa was obviously showing her support for him, and he was grateful for it.

After breakfast, Kris had to get srest because of his wound. Luisa cto wake him for lunch. When they got down, Thalassa was already at the table, but as usual, her face remained stoic throughout the meal, shutting down all his attempts at conversation.

Once they finished eating, she headed upstairs to her room, leaving Luisa and Kris behind.

"Kris, just so you know, Alden has askedto dinner tonight, so I won't be home. But I've prepared enough food and stored sin the fridge. You can reheat it for dinner if you don't mind," Luisa said.

"Not at all," Kris assured her. He was glad Alden finally had a chance with Luisa, just as he had always wanted. At least one of us is making progress, he thought with a sigh.

1998 That night, Kris stepped into his room after taking a shower, the cool air hitting his damp skin as he wrapped a towel around his waist. His injured arm hung limply by his side.

He frowned at the bandage and sling on the bed. Taking them off before his shower hadn't been a big problem, but putting them back on? That was a different story.

His shoulder hurt too much to lift his arm by himself. Luisa was the one who had helped him with it in the morning, but now that she was out on her date, je was on his own.

Except he wasn't..

A smirk formed on Kris's face. He hadn't seen much of Thalassa all day because she'd been hiding in her room most of the time.

Discarding the towel, he slipped into a pair of boxer shorts, leaving his chest bare and glistening with moisture. Grabbing the sling and bandage, he stepped out of his room and walked toward Thalassa's door. He knocked.

A few seconds later, the door swung open. Thalassa stood in front of him, wearing a simple tank top and shorts that looked effortlessly stunning on her. Then again, she always looked good in anything Her eyes narrowed the moment she saw him. Her expression was cold, her mouth set in a firm line-until her gaze wandered from his face down to his bare chest and abs Thalassa's mouth dropped open as she sucked in a breath, Her eyes lingering on every defined contour of his chest and abs. When she finally snapped out of her daze, she looked up sharply at his face.

"What do you want?" Kris noticed that she struggling to keep her eyes on his face and he smirked. Perfect.

Leaning his uninjured arm against the doorframe, he flexed his muscles slightly, just enough to draw her attention. Her eyes flickered down for a second before she looked away.

"It's just you andtonight, Thalassa," he said, his voice low.

Her eyes widened slightly as she crossed her arms. "And so what?" "So, I need your help with this.” Kris held up the bandage and sling, raising a teasing eyebrow. "Why? What else did you think I was going to ask?" Thalassa ignored his suggestive tone as she questioned, "Why are you bringing them to me?" Kris shrugged. "You know Luisa is out with Alden, so you're the only one who can helpput them on now."

Thalassa crossed her arms tighter, annoyance flashing in her eyes. "You managed to take it off before your shower. Why can't you put it back on yourself?"

Kris pointed to his injured arm, which hung limply by his side. "Yeah, took it off myself, and it hurt like hell, but I can't put it back on myself. I can't exactly wrap the bandage around my own body." Her nostrils flared, her irritation growing. "And you couldn't put on a shirt before coming to ask for help?"

His grin widened slightly. "I was planning to sleep soon, and I don't feel like wearing a skirt tonight. You NO know I hate sleeping with clothes on.

Besides, I didn't think it would bother you to seeshirtless." He took a step closer, his voice dropping to a low, suggestive tone. "Or does it?"
