Chapter 275
Arthur was the last person | expected to see in a dungeon where Pison's rejected concubines are kept for his
warriors' amusement.
| stayed rooted on the spot, unable to move. One part ofwantedto hide, while another part was still
shocked that Arthur had finally exposed himself after betraying Eros. Arthur avoided my gaze, looking away as |
kept my eyes on him while his men cto my side and pulledto my feet.
| was tired, hungry and needed a break.
| couldn't even put up a fight and just allowed his men to pullalong. | staggered a little and fell to my knees.
Without waiting, the warriors roughly pulledto my feet, bruising my skin. | winced in pain and growled low.
"Be careful." Arthur barked out.
The men bowed slightly and continued moving along.
Soon, we were in the main halls. As we passed through the hallway, | noticed that all the warriors or maids who
passed by, stopped to greet Arthur and gave him their respects.
It was obvious that he had a very high rank and was highly regarded in the palace.
| scoffed. Was the greed for power greater than his friendship with Eros? | didn't ask out loud. | kept my questions
to myself.
Finally, | was pulled to a stop in front of Arthur's chamber.
The door was pushed open and | was thrown inside. | stumbled to a heap on the floor letting out a strangled cry.
Arthur followed behind.
"Leave us," Arthur commanded.
The men exchanged looks of surprise, but said nothing as they filed out one after the other.
Arthur moved closer, and squatted. He released a deep sigh before he cupped my face in his hands. | moved my
face away, but he pulled it back and forcedto stay still even as | struggled. "You should relax," Arthur said
firmly.
| rolled my eyes at him and spat on the floor in disgust.
"To hell with you." | said.

Arthur's eyes thinned as he glared at me. He said nothing for a few moments before he finally stood up and
walked to the side.
There was a short knock on the door, and Arthur answered.
"Cin."
The door opened and smaids entered. Arthur quietly excused himself as he allowed the women to clean me
up.
| didn't have the strength to complain or think about what they did. | just allowed the women to do their job.
The maids worked fast. And when they were done, they haddressed in a beautiful blue dinner gown, and
styled my hair into ssimple hairdo.
| had no idea what | looked like, as the women didn't bother to putin front of a mirror, but from the
satisfaction on their faces, | knew | looked better than before.
"Where are you takingto?" | asked when the ladies gestured forto follow them
"To dinner with Lord Arthur." One of the maids answered.
| didn't feel like dining with Arthur, however at the mention of dinner, my stomach growled in hunger and my
face heated from embarrassment.
"Let's go." | said quickly.
The maids usheredout of the inner chamber, to the outer part where Arthur sat before a table filled with
various delicacies.
The sweet aroma of delicious food passed through my nose and my stomach growled once again.
I sat down at the table, and before
Arthur could say a word, | helpedz myself to a generous plate of roast meat. As | dug into the meal, | didn't
care about how Arthur looked at me.

He chuckled.
"| advise you to go slow, lest you choke." He said.
| didn't answer. | merely ignored him and continued eating, however | slowed my pace, suddenly conscious about
his presence.
"This is why | like you." Arthur smiled. "Your lack of pretense. It amazes me. That was one of the reasons | liked
you."
| eyed Arthur and slowly stopped eating. | wasn't sure what he was driving at, but my mind already had an
inkling.
"You have no idea how many times | wished the moon-goddess had mated you to me, instead of Eros." Eros
chuckled, his eyes soft with affection.
| becuneasy. | had no idea what to do. This was something | never would have predicted.
It was beginning to look like every man who was out to kill Eros or betray him, had skind of twisted affection
for me.
"You were Eros's best friend." | said.
Arthur nodded. "Yes. But what about

| stood up, suddenly tired of being the center of everything.
As | made to leave, Arthur grabbed my hand and stopped me.
"I will help you." He said. "I will help you take down Pison in exchange for your love. Be my mate."
The silence was loud.
