A shock laugh broke from Elias.
"You're the doctor. Aren't you supposed to recommend healthier choices?" Elias pointed out.
Alyssa scoffed and waved her hand dismissively. He couldn't use her doctor card against her. She would find a way to flip it back around.
"Frozen yogurt pretty much has the same amount of sugar as ice cream. Try again," she told him, smirking at him and his wasted effort.
Plus, she was craving cookies and cream ice cream. Ice cream and happiness went hand-in-hand, and she had been so incredibly happy lately with him.
"Wow. What a betrayal," Elias said, shaking his head playfully. He took her hand, pulling her closer to his side as they walked down the walking path back toward the parking lot where his car was parked. "I guess we can get ice cream."
"That's what I'm talking about," Alyssa said with a victorious look. She leaned up and pecked Elias on the cheek, feeling happiness radiate throughout her entire body. She felt like things were finally falling into place.
Next week, she got to go back to work and see her friends. She knew that Micah wouldn't be happy about the news of her getting back with Elias and also moving into his loft, but he would have to get over it and move on. They weren't meant to be. She had found her soulmate back in college.
She wasn't sure what her next step with Elias would be, but she wasn't rushing into anything. She wanted to enjoy being with him again, making a routine of their own.
They still had some catching up to do, but she knew that he was an incredible man that she couldn't wait to get close to again.
Their relationship had been given a second chance, and they weren't about to let that chance go to waste.
"Have you been sleeping good lately?" Elias asked her, giving her a hopeful look.
Right after the whole spat with Stella, Alyssa faced intense nightmares for a few nights. She believed that it was her body and mind getting rid of the excess stress that whole situation caused her.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtShe felt a lot better now, and her anxiety regarding going out and about alone was so much lower than before.
She was able to fall back into her old routine without freaking out over little suspicious things happening around her.
"Like a baby. You've been tiring me out at night too," Alyssa said, wiggling her eyebrows at him playfully.
They had been having a lot of fun lately, whether they were in the bedroom or not.
They were intent on enjoying each other's company as much as they could this week before they had to go on with their normal lives. At least they liked their jobs.
"We have a lot of lost time to make up for," Elias pointed out with a bold smirk. He knew how crazy he had been driving her lately, and she had been having the same effect on him.
"Yeah, we do," Alyssa replied warmly. That was why they were constantly doing things together. They wanted to catch up with themselves.
Their timeline had been messed up, but that didn't mean that they couldn't pick up where they left off so many years ago.
Elias flashed her a grin before looking forward as they approached the parking lot. His steps immediately stopped, and Alyssa would've kept going without noticing unless she felt his grip on her hand tighten.
Alyssa gave him a confused look before following his gaze and feeling her heart threaten to drop down into her stomach.
Right in front of them was Scott with a white polo shirt and khaki pants. He looked well-groomed and cleaned, like hadn't been on the run fighting for his life or anything. It looked like he took a vacation more.
"What is he doing here?" she whispered, managing to find enough breath to force the words out.
Even if he wasn't the one that had been attacking her, she still felt incredibly uneasy around him because he had beef with Elias.
Elias tightened his jaw as he stared at Scott for a few more seconds before speaking.
"What are you doing here?" he asked. He looked like he wanted to punch Scott in the face, but he was restraining himself to the best of his ability.
Scott tucked his hands into his pants as he shrugged.
"I figured that I should pay you a visit. I heard about Stella," he said, tilting his head slightly. His eyes shifted over to Alyssa, and he almost looked amused. "Sorry about that."
"Sorry about what? Did you have something to do with the attacks on Alyssa?" Elias snapped as he stepped closer to Scott, who was a few feet away and standing right outside the edge of the parking lot.
Alyssa quickly reached out and grabbed Elias' arm, keeping him from getting too close to Scott. She didn't want another fight to break out. They needed to learn how to talk and express their feelings. Without fists.
"Don't," she warned Elias, not wanting him to get mixed up with Scott. They were doing just fine without him.
"I might've told Stella that you were interested in Alyssa again. That was my fault. I was mad at you," Scott said with a sheepish grin. "I guess she took things too far."
"Seriously? Can we be done with causing havoc just because we want to be jerks to each other?" Elias sighed as he shook his head, looking fed up with everything.
Alyssa couldn't blame him. Scott was a loose cannon, and he wasn't fun to be around. He stressed her out, and she didn't want to get too close to him just in case.
She didn't trust him, and she didn't think that she would ever be able to trust him because he was so shady.
"Look, I was just upset because you were possibly sabotaging yourself by getting with a human. Obviously, she's not just any human.
Maybe I was wrong, and you won't grow weak by building some domestic life with her," Scott said as he crossed his arms over his chest.
"Why is everyone so afraid that I'll grow weaker? What do I need to be strong for besides survival?" Elias asked as he threw his hands up in an aggravated manner.
"You don't even know what you're capable of. You have no clue," Scott said as he shook his head.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"What are you talking about? Can you stop being so damn cryptic?" Elias groaned as he tilted his head back.
"Your family hasn't told you everything. You're more powerful than you think," Scott said. "They told me not to say anything, but I can't keep quiet any longer."
Alyssa shared a confused look with Elias, not knowing what Scott was rambling on about. It made her nervous, though, because it had something to do with Elias.
She couldn't help but be protective over him, not wanting anything to hurt him, whether it was something physical or a piece of information. Knowledge could hurt more than a punch sometimes.
"I have no idea what you're talking about. You're a liar anyway, so I don't believe you,"
Elias muttered as he shook his head, starting to back away from Scott to go on with his day with Alyssa by his side.
"I brought someone that might be able to answer some of your questions," Scott said, looking a hint sly. He knew that he had played a powerful card.
Elias didn't move or say anything for a few seconds. He was contemplating on how to respond. He turned to glance at Alyssa, silently asking her for her opinion.
Alyssa wanted his questions to be answered, so she smiled at him and nodded. It wouldn't hurt to hear this person out. If they were lying, no harm was done. If they weren't, at least they learned something new.
Scott turned around to face his black car with tinted windows. He waved his hand in its general direction, making a "come here" motion. He then turned back to Elias, almost looking excited.
Elias looked past Scott as a slim woman got out of Scott's passenger side. She wore a black dress that went down to her ankles, and her hair was black and long, looking as straight and sleek as could be.
She wore colorful rings on her fingers and had gems on her necklace that she wore. She stared right at Elias as she slowly approached.
"Who is she?" Elias asked Scott, not recognizing the woman, who looked to be around his age. But even a stranger could tell she looked exactly like his mom. Except for her eyes color which seems to be his dad's.
Scott grinned at Elias as he turned to gesture to the woman.
"That's your twin sister, Elias."
Elias looked like he got struck in the face, making him lean against Alyssa for support.
Whether Scott was lying or not, this woman would change everything for Alyssa and Elias.. They just had to figure out if it was for better or worse.
