The Barrister's Love in Town

Elias seemed like he knew Stephanie too, which made Amanda suddenly remember that

he had accidentally blurted out the woman’s name when he was on the phone.

Amanda’s phone rang again at this time.

When she looked at it again, she realized that this was a client from one of the cases that

she was involved in. Whether she liked it or not, she had to answer whenever a client

called.

As such, she took the call and collected her thoughts. “Mr. Worcester, it’s been some time

since we last spoke. Is something the matter?”

“Miss Bailey, I’d like to invite you to attend a banquet tonight since a friend who got

involved in

something wants to consult you for legal advice. Do you have time?”

“Ah, the thing is, I’m actually on my break. Maybe I can refer you to other lawyers in the

firm?”

“That won’t do. I’d prefer to consult you instead. You can just come and sit for a few

minutes since we’re only discussing legal matters.”

Amanda couldn’t extricate herself from the situation, so she could only force herself to

agree. “Okay, then. I’ll be there tonight.”

“Awesome. That’s about it. I’ll wait for you tonight, but don’t be late.”

Soon, night fell.

Since Amanda was attending the banquet, she still needed to dress up a little.

She was in a gown that was the color of the sea, and her long, slightly curly hair reached

her waist while her face was adorned with light makeup.

After she produced the invitation card, the staff allowed her into the reception area.

She glanced at the scale of the reception and understood that the guests tonight were

somewhat influential in their own name.

When she entered the reception, she searched for Phineas but could not locate him. She

merely wanted to finish her task quickly and head home to sleep.

I never fancied this type of event in the first place because everyone feels fake. It’s like

everyone is wearing a mask.

Instead of finding Phineas, she eventually spotted a familiar figure.

A handsome, tall, and charming man….

It was none other than Elias.

Why is he here too?

Amanda immediately wanted to laugh at herself because she must have spent too much

time at home.

Elias already had a lot of social events to attend, so he would be exceptionally busy at this

time. Whenever he needed to employ people, he was forced to attend social events to

expand his network.

At that point, Phineas finally showed up.

“There you are, Miss Bailey. I have been looking for you,” he exclaimed as he approached

with a glass of

red wine.

Amanda greeted him with a smile. “Mr. Worcester, I was also looking for you. By the way,

didn’t you say that a friend wanted to consult me for legal advice?”

She wanted to complete the task quickly and leave before Elias spotted her.

The last thing she wanted to do was to exchange greetings with Elias at such an event.

“Oh, yes. He’s over there. Come, let me take you to him.

As Phineas brought her toward the crowd, Amanda’s expression soured when they got

closer.

Why is he taking me in Elias’ direction? Don’t tell me Mr. Worcester’s friend is where Elias

is… Can I tell Mr. Worcester to tell his friend to arrange for another place for the

consultation? This is too awkward.

Yet, in the end, Phineas stopped behind Elias and said. “Jack, I’ve brought over my lawyer,

Miss Bailey. She used to represent me in a litigation matter and secured a beautiful victory

for me. You can ask her if you have any questions.”

Several people in front of them were laughing and chatting when they heard Phineas’

words and turned around. This included Elias.

The moment Elias saw Amanda, there was a trace of surprise in his dark eyes, but he

remained silent as he observed her.

Since it was a formal event where not everything could be said, Amanda merely

responded with a smile.

“Miss Bailey, let me introduce you. This is Jack Allegra, the chairman of the Allegra Group,

Phineas announced.

Amanda’s expression changed slightly after the introduction because the first thing that

came to her mind. was Stephanie on the billboard at the bus station.

This is Stephanie’s father? Why am I seeing all these strange people for no reason? These

few days have been really weird.

Jack regarded the woman in front of him before he offered a handshake. “Pleasure to meet

you, Miss Bailey. I’m Jack Allegra.”

Amanda froze for a second, but she still smiled and took the proffered hand.

Elias, who was standing aside, was extremely upset at the sight of such a scene and

lowered his head to take a sip of the red wine.

She then politely asked. “Which aspect of the legal issues do you need consultation on, Mr.

Allegra? I need to know everything about it.”

There was a strange atmosphere combined with an unspoken sense of mystery as if

everyone had ulterior motives.

Jack glanced at the calm Elias before he explained. “The thing is, my daughter is getting

engaged next month, and I would like for a prenup to be drafted. I don’t know much about

this, so I wanted to have a consultation for this.”

Elias frowned in surprise, after which he looked at Jack angrily. It was as if to question,

What do you mean by doing this? This old for is not someone easy to deal with,

considering that he’s being deliberate with his words.

However, Amanda had no idea what was going on. She was about to answer when Phineas

interrupted.

“Jack, you are not being kind. Do you think Mr. Winters is eyeing your properties? Does

your daughter really need a prenup to marry him?”

When Amanda heard that, her smile froze, and she looked as if she had misheard. What

did Mr. Worcester say? Stephanie is marrying Elias?!
