Chapter 274
Whenever she thought of Shannon, Eugene's innocent little face would pop up in her mind.
The little boy died a horrible death and had once haunted her dreams.
I also can't forget the lady who suffered throughout her life...
“What's wrong?” Artemis' voice rang out, snapping her out of her reverie.
At once, the hostility in her gaze slowly faded away.
Micah narrowed his eyes at her and frowned. “May I know how you got to know my real identity?”
He was careful enough that no one except for a few trusted aides had seen his face in real life. Thus,
the public had no idea who he was.
Bailey didn't bother hiding her malice, so he knew she wanted to kill him. It wasn't a joke or
provocation.
She wants to kill me for real. She would've stabbed my chest with the dagger if I weren't her match
earlier. However, I don't remember offending her.
Bailey let out a low chuckle. “Mr. Neyman, are you looking down on me? I'm Spook, the top
international hacker. Would you believe me if I said I could steal all your top-secret files in Tarragon's
internal system with just a laptop?”
“You're Spook?” Micah stared at her in surprise for some time before turning to look at Artemis.
He couldn't believe his ears.
“Are you seriously telling me that the woman you fell in love with was the top hacker, Spook, who stole
three billion from you six months ago, causing you to chase after her all around the world like a fool?”
he asked incredulously.
Well...
When everyone thought Artemis would fly into a rage, he chuckled lightly. Without any embarrassment,
he said, “It's a good thing my wife is more capable than me. You're just being jealous of me.”
Sylvester coughed twice and stepped forward to make the introductions. “Bailey, we asked you to come
today to hand Kayden to you and see you in person. We also wish to be introduced to you formally.”
He turned around and announced, “First in line is Artemis, your future husband. I don't have to
introduce him. This is Micah, second in line. The third in line is Justin, and the fourth is Dwayne. I'm
Sylvester, the fifth in line. The young man engrossed in his game is Jerry Perry, sixth in line. The
seventh, Dexter, is currently on a mission in Alendor. He couldn't make it back in time. An hour ago, he
called and asked me to say hello to you on his behalf.”
Bailey lowered her head but didn't say anything else.
She knew what Artemis was getting at. He was introducing her to his sworn brothers so she would be
branded as his.
Alas, she had no choice but to disappoint him.
“Hello, Bailey,” the five men chorused politely.
Micah, Justin, Dwayne, Sylvester, and Jerry were showing her respect as she was Artemis' other half.
Bailey pursed her lips without responding.
Knowing her concern, Artemis sighed inwardly as he couldn't expose her now. “I shall thank you on
behalf of her. She'll acknowledge you when you get closer to each other in the future. Micah, where is
Kayden?”
Micah observed Bailey carefully. I need to find a chance to ask why she's this hostile to me.
“The old man asked to see Bailey on the cruise ship docked at the port. He wanted to strike a deal with
her.”
Bailey arched a brow silently. A while later, she said calmly, “I'll make time to meet him. I still need his
help to catch Cadence.”
As they had reached a conclusion, Artemis asked, “Are you hungry? I'll bring you to dinner now.”
“That won't do!” Sylvester was the first to protest. “It's hard for us to gather together. You can't bring
Bailey to a candlelit dinner and abandon us. Both of you need to treat us to dinner tonight!”
In the women's prison, Waverly was seated in the visiting room.
Sitting across from her was her daughter. Calmly, she revealed, “Zozo, the International Socialite Club
will remove your name from the top ten socialites as you'll be held in detention for half a month.”
“What?” Zoey rose to her feet in shock. Gazing at Waverly in disbelief, she asked in a shaking voice,
“A-Am I really going to be held in detention for half a month? And is the International Socialite Club
really removing my name from the top ten socialites? Mom, why did this happen? What is going on?”
Waverly sighed helplessly. “Don't you know why this is happening? Zozo, you're such a fool. There are
many ways to deal with Bailey, but you picked the stupidest way. If you weren't Artemis' savior, I'm
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmafraid you'd have to serve a few years sentence in prison.”
Zoey was taken aback. She quickly regained her composure and grew emotional. “Mom, what did you
say? Did Artemis rescue me as I'm his savior? Doesn't that mean he still cares for me?”
Waverly shook her head and exhaled sharply. “I don't know whether or not he cares for you, but you've
certainly wasted this favor completely this time around.”
Zoey furrowed her brows and clenched her jaw. “What do you mean by that?”
Waverly wasn't about to keep the truth from her. “Initially, Bailey tested the drug and confirmed there
was something else in it. If she were to hand her report to the court, you'd definitely be convicted. Left
with no choice, I had to go to her and ask for her help. She agreed to help me in exchange for the favor
Artemis owed you after you saved his life. I agreed to her condition,” she said calmly.
“What?” Zoey's eyes widened. Veins popped up on her forehead as she exclaimed, “How could you
agree to her condition? I was planning on using the favor to force Artemis to marry me!”
“Are you dumb?” Waverly snapped. “Do you seriously think Artemis will marry you just because he
owes you one? Rhonda's contribution to the Luther family was greater than yours as she gave birth to
their eldest grandson. But did Artemis cave in and marry her?”
Zoey slumped in her chair as though she had been dealt a huge blow. She hung her head low and fell
silent for a long while. Suddenly, something occurred to her, and she nearly leaped out of her chair.
“Bailey is protecting the culprit! Mom, can we send her to jail if we report her behavior to the
Department of Justice?”
Waverly frowned and chided, “You must've gone nuts. Who is she protecting? You? If we were to report
her behavior to the Department of Justice, I'm sure you'll be the first one to get convicted.”
