As soon as Sam said those words, the insect dismantled itself and a recording crystal came out of it.
Sam threw held it up and the screen projected the whole scenario along with the audio. And that audio included the whispers Rain made.
Sam looked at him with a smirk. The Enforcement squad were a bit stumped. This is not exactly an ideal situation for them. Usually in these cases as long as there is no evidence, they would just side with the students of the academy.
After all, these students have authority, power and connections, what would they gain from siding with a person who didn't even get any admission. This would have been swept under the rug easily and everyone would have gone about their day.
They didn't expect such evidence and it would be aired directly out in the open.
The one who was shocked about this is Rain himself. Because when he whispered those threats, he made sure of one thing. To mask it with his spiritual energy. It is a trick a lot of high level cultivators use.
Since the cultivators will gain more and more acute hearing with time, catching whispers is very easy. So, he made sure to mask the threats. But still managed to catch that.
"How did you…" Rain almost blurted the question out. He barely managed to hold himself from saying it completely, but Sam understood the question.
"You wouldn't understand even if I explained." Sam just replied without much thought. These kinds of tricks are pretty easy for him to break. It is actually a waste of his time to think about these things, it is that easy.
Pearl was also stunned, but that shock soon turned into an intrigue as she locked on to Sam's eyes. Sam looked back at her, without breaking the eye contact. Both of them are trying to see if they can look into their thoughts, but neither of them are giving it away.
The enforcement squad looked at the recording crystal and the captain of the squad sighed before saying.
"Can you give that recording crystal? We would like to add it as evidence for this incident and we will investigate further. For now, you cannot cause any more commotion here. Both of you can go on your own ways and we will deal with this through the Enforcement Hall."
Rain suddenly felt like he was given a way out.
Once the case is taken up by the enforcement squad and the video is given as an evidence, then he can use his contacts to just push the case back to the extreme backend.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAll he needs to do is to get out this situation and it would never be talked again.
Sam thought for a moment and smiled.
"I am sorry, I can give you the video for your evidence, but I cannot leave this place without having my two bowls of soup. They are part of my training and I am on a verge of breakthrough. I need my two bowls of soup at that exact temperature right now."
Everyone looked at Sam with a weird expression.
They looked at the empty bowl of the soup of the table and they already heard about how he ordered all the ten bowls for himself.
They are already wondering how he managed to hold all the energy in without suffering anything at all. But now he is saying that those two bowls are part of his training? They felt like he is trying to make fools out of them.
"But I heard that only one bowl of soup's energy can be stored by a cultivator of our level. Why are eating ten bowls in the first place?"
Pearl asked the question that was in everyone's mind.
"Don't judge me based on your and the general populace's standards. The number of bowls I eat is my business, whether I am utilizing all the energy or not.
And I can't be conforming to the standards of the weak ass cultivators, who cannot handle more than one bowl of the soup.
I am not fault for being competent and capable."
Sam angered everyone with just a few sentences. Until now most of the customers were on Sam's side. They wanted to support the underdog and watch a good show. But now, he just turned all of them against him.
Everyone is staring daggers at him.
"How about we make that person pay for your soup? We can talk rest of the case later after we start our investigation?"
The enforcement squad captain looked at Sam as he spoke.
Rain looked at the captain and nodded reluctantly. Even thought twenty thousand coins is a very high amount, he can grit his teeth and accept it.
But Sam was adamant.
"Nope. I don't need twenty thousand coins. I am not short on money now. I am short on soup. I need my soup now."
By the end of this statement, a new group ran in. They all ran to Pearl as soon as they entered the restaurant.
"Sister Pearl, are you hurt? You are okay right?"
The leader of the group who is a woman asked. She had purple hair and her skin looked a bit tough for some reason. She might be a mixed race. As for what races, it is unknown for now.
Pearl just nodded and pointed at Sam and Rain.
"Junior Rain, I told you not to cause any trouble when you took Sister Pearl out, why did you create such a mess? You are going to be in charge of the cleaning duty within the school for a month for this."
She then looked at Sam and after getting the information that he also had the evidence, she frowned and said.
"Look Mister, our Junior did a bad thing. But he didn't really mean any harm, he just wanted to show off in front of a beautiful girl. You are a man, you should understand how it is. Just take the compensation and let it go. I can guarantee if you do that, there would be no trouble for you in the entrance examinations.
I can even help you out a little in Zeus' academy if you get in."
Sam looked at this woman with amusement. This is a much more veiled threat and it has a carrot and stick attached to it.
Basically, what he meant is that if he doesn't do it trouble will be there for him.
Before Sam could speak, the woman continued.
"You can ask around. My name is Irel. I have a reputation to keep up, so you would know that I am not lying."
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"I am a forgiving person, but I am not going to let this go. This is my hard earned money. I had to work an hour to earn it and I had to wait for the restaurant to open and come in early to pay for the soup.
But as I said, I am a forgiving person. Give me my two bowls of soup. I won't pursue this offense and will let him go."
Irel's frown deepened. She looked at Sam and then at Pearl.
The latter is smiling as she watched the show, this makes Irel even more frustrated. It took a lot out of them to bring Pearl to their academy, so for her to witness such a sight of the first day is a huge setback.
She cursed Rain under her breath.
She looked at the Enforcement Squad and he took a step back. It is not obvious, but he is clearly taking a back seat on this thing, she then turned to Sam and said.
"You better let this go. Since it is indeed the fault of my own person, I will give five thousand coins more. You can have this soup later on."
Sam turned to the waiter and asked.
"If I give you five thousand more coins, can you get me those two bowls of soup?"
"No sir, restaurant rules are strict, even if you give a million gold coins, it is impossible to get another ladle of soup, much less a bowl."
"You hear that? Get me two more bowls and I will leave." Sam was pretty adamant about it.
Irel gritted her teeth and looked at the Enforcement captain. He spoke up.
"You are causing a disturbance to the restaurant here. Do you know that?"
Sam smiled and took out a bigger coin bag than before. He threw it on the table. Platinum coins spilled out of it onto the table. The waiter was on cue and ran forward.
"What do you need sir?"
"I am buying everything on the menu and in stock. Any customer that comes to the restaurant can eat whatever they want and however much they want. I am going to pay it. Ask your owner if he is okay with this and let me know."
Every spectator looked at this scene with their mouths wide open. They didn't expect this situation at all. All this while they knew Sam is finding trouble, but they just assumed that he is an ignorant and arrogant guy.
But watching the coins spill on the table, they are very clear on one thing, this guy is finding trouble on purpose and it is just getting started.
