Chapter 640 Selena's eyes shimmered with tears as she gazed at him. Her red lips parted, each word firm and
resolute, "Everett, you've broken your promises too many times. | hope this tyou'll keep your word!" He
looked back at her, stunned, holding her gaze. Before he knew about her struggles with depression, he would
never have let her go. Even though his methods were tough and seemed unfeeling, he always believed that as
long as she stayed by his side, her heart would eventually soften.
Now, he couldn't bring himself to use those tactics anymore. He worried she might fall ill again, was concerned
about their unborn child, and most importantly, he wanted to help her find peace. He didn't want the shadow of
depression to follow her forever. If she could find happiness, perhaps she could gradually let go of past hurts and
find comfort. Her therapist had suggested this to him.
At this moment, he had to admit Selena hiring Blaine, the lawyer, was a masterstroke. Blaine didn't follow
the usual routes; he went straight for the vulnerabilities, making Everett surrender willingly. Not because of

Gently, he wiped the tears from her cheeks, his throat tightening as he hoarsely whispered one word, "Okay."
Usually warm to the touch, his hands were now cool, and Selena's thick lashes fluttered slightly. Hearing his
promise, she thought she'd feel liberated and relieved. But it was just that...
Love is perhaps the most elusive thing in this world. Yet, this outcwas what she wanted, and she felt
content.
Selena pushed aside a fleeting sadness and stood up. "Tonight, I'll sleep with our son." She wasn't asking for his
permission-just letting him know. With that, she walked out without looking back.
Everett sank into the couch, sitting in silence for what felt like ages...
The next day was Saturday, and with no school for Mateo, Selena stayed in bed with him a little longer.
That was until Ava cupstairs to let her know Bradley had arrived.
Selena was momentarily surprised, then replied calmly, "Got it. Please ask him to wait; I'll be down after |

“Alright.”
Mateo was awake too. Kids have boundless energy, and once they're up, they're up. Selena took him to

completely captivated.
Thad transformed her from a girl into a woman exuding sophistication; her beauty only enhanced with the

someone like Selena, with both beauty and grace, could truly capture a man's heart.
Bradley stood up, greeting her with respect, "Ma'am, it's been a long time."
Then he turned to Mateo with a warm smile, "Hello, young master."
Mateo had never met Bradley, but having spent so much twith Everett, his confidence and insight had
grown, and he was no longer intimidated. He nodded solemnly, "Hello, sir."
Such poise a child destined for greatness. Bradley couldn't help but think, like father, like son. It was indeed true.
