After walking around to exercise his body a bit and eating with Kate, Lei Zhen began to make his way toward the medical center.
Being in the command was important, but caring for injured soldiers must not be neglected either.
To show everyone that Princess Kate was a virtuous and worthy person, they'll need to do at least this much to convince the public.
Thus, when they arrived at the medical center, Kate and Lei Zhen worked hard to volunteer themselves in helping the injured soldiers out.
Kate would walk around and talk with the soldiers, praising them for their loyalty.
As for Lei Zhen, he was back to his old profession; doctor. He would rebandage the wounds of some soldiers and give them medical advice on what to do.
"Remember to not overwork yourself and put your health at the highest priority. Only when a soldier is healthy could they contribute more." Lei Zhen said once he finished bandaging the soldier.
"Thank you, Chancellor. You are really the greatest person to appear beside Princess Kate." The soldier thanked and tried to get up to give him a bow, only to be halted by Lei Zhen.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Stop it, you're in no condition to get up now. Do you want to waste my bandaging effort?" Lei Zhen joked slightly, prompting the soldier to nod his head and laid his head back on the pillow.
Sometime later, Lei Zhen and Kate exit the medical center, leaving the soldiers revitalizing themselves to see such high-ranking people would come to visit them.
"The soldiers are really pitiful. Hopefully, my two elder brothers will know it's time to surrender." Kate stretched her arm and said.
As pitiful as those soldiers were, the war would never officially end until the two princes surrendered themselves.
Lei Zhen nodded his head. "This truce meeting will be the final phase of the war."
If his conjecture was right, then the black mage would reveal himself since they had spoiled his plan. However, even if his conjecture was wrong and that the black mage had nothing to do with this rebellion, then all is well.
Things would simply become much more simpler for him to deal with. One less trouble means one less headache.
Time slowly passed by, and the raging war that had embroiled the country stopped for today temporarily.
The truce meeting was held at a large military meeting room inside a building in the demilitarized zone.
The military meeting room was a spacious, rectangular chamber located within the heart of the base. It was large enough to accommodate several hundred people, with rows of seats arranged in a semicircle facing a raised platform at the front of the room.
The walls were adorned with framed maps and diagrams, and there was a large screen mounted on the wall at the back of the room for presentations.
The room was lit by fluorescent lights, which cast a sterile glow over the utilitarian space.
At the front of the room, there was a long table where the base's commanding officers sat, surrounded by a phalanx of junior officers and advisors.
When the room was filled to capacity, the air was thick with the sound of murmured conversations and the rustling of papers as the military personnel prepared for the briefing.
Though, almost all the sounds were silent when two distinct footsteps could be heard entering the military room. They were naturally the rebellious princes, Prince Leon and Prince Carter.
Prince Leon was tall and slender, with chiseled features and piercing blue eyes. His hair was a golden blond, styled in a fashionable undercut that framed his angular jawline. He wore his military uniform with pride, the tailored fabric hugging his toned muscles and emphasizing his broad shoulders.
Prince Carter, on the other hand, was a bit more rugged in appearance. He had a strong, square jaw and deep-set brown eyes that seemed to take in everything around him. His hair was a dark, chocolate brown, cropped short in a no-nonsense style. He was tall and muscular, with a physique honed from years of training in the royal guard.
As the two princes took their assigned seat, both their eyes were furious at the sight of the calm and collected Princess Kate.

His forehead wrinkled a bit from the rage and he could almost feel as if his blood was boiling hot.
Although he knew he was in the wrong to start this war as well, being dishonored horribly by Kate was unacceptable.
He was not the same as Prince Leon who would scheme in the dark. Being labeled the same as him was a disgraceful mark to his honor and his swordsmanship.
"Heh, is that really important at this moment?" Prince Leon suddenly sneered and laughed coldly.
"We are here fighting among ourselves while someone is actually scheming deep and reaping all the benefits. Now we are even forced to initiate this meeting like some sore loser."
Just when Prince Carter tried to rebuke, Prince Leon kicked the table lightly and glared at the person behind Kate.
"You!" Prince Leon raised his finger and pointed at the mask-face person.
"Our little sister was never the scheming type, so you must have been the one telling her what to do, right?"
The person Prince Leon pointed to was naturally Lei Zhen. At this moment, he was standing behind Kate, remaining perfectly still.
Seeing Lei Zhen remained silent and had no intention of talking, his foul mood began to show.
"Hmph, even if we're going to lose, I can still have you killed." Prince Leon sneered coldly and stood up, almost as if he was ready to attack.
"Don't you dare make a move, Leon. This is the demilitarized zone, and making a move will only make your position worse." Kate shot back when Leon began disrespecting Lei Zhen, causing the tension to rise even further.
