First Love 68
Chapter 68
To Angela's surprise, it was Erica who had arrived.
“What are you doing here?” Angela asked coldly. She maintained her grip on both sides of the door-she had no
intention of letting someone she disliked into her house.
Erica was also a bit surprised to see Angela. She'd thought Angela wouldn't be back until later.
"I'm here to deliver sdocuments to Mr. Bamford," Erica replied, trying to keep her
irritation in check.
She added in a low voice, "I see you've gotten better at your game, Ms. Graham. You've managed to get Mr.
Bamford to chere-impressive."
Her words were laced with mockery.
Angela didn't feel the need to explain herself. Instead, she reached out for the documents.
Erica immediately stopped her. "These are confidential files from Bamford Co. You're just an outsider. How dare
you try to take them?"
She deliberately stressed the word "outsider".
Angela rolled her eyes inwardly. She couldn't care less about what Erica said.
Just then, Erica pushed the door open. Angela, caught off guard by her sudden movement, was struck hard by

A sharp pain shot through her arm, making her gasp in pain.
“Oh, did that hurt?” Erica chuckled coldly. “Why don't you go and tell Mr. Bamford so he can cto your
rescue?"
Angela didn't respond. She merely followed behind her calmly.
As Erica took off her shoes by the door, Angela gaye her a subtle nudge from behind.
Erica, who was also caught off guard, stumbled forward and knocked over an antique vase on the console table.
The vase shattered to the ground with a loud crash, sending fragments flying across the room. Erica ended up
getting a cut on her calf when one of the broken pieces struck her.
The loud noise caught Dexter's attention. He stood up and walked over. "What's going on here?"
"Hey, that's a crystal vase from the Zenith Dynasty! It's worth over 300 thousand dollars!" Angela said, feigning
concern as she bent down to pick up the pieces.

Dexter immediately pulled her back. “Be careful. You might hurt yourself."
Angela shrugged off his hand. "Could you please keep your assistant in line? Doesn't she know how to be more
careful when entering someone else's home? How could she be so careless? Is this how a professional assistant
should behave?"
Erica, who always took pride in being Dexter's assistant, had never expected someone would use her position
against her like this.
She retorted furiously, "You were the one who pushedfirst! This is clearly a scam. There's no way that this
vase is worth over 300 thousand dollars!"
"You're not very bright, are you? | just said that it's an antique. How could you touch it? Now that you've broken
it, you'll have to pay for it,” Angela retorted sharply. She exuded an icy and commanding demeanor.
In truth, Erica was right-this vase wasn't really an antique; it was a replica. Nevertheless, it was too satisfying to
mess with Erica like this to let the chance slip through her fingers.
Dexter carefully studied Angela with a thoughtful expression on his face.
He had never seen her act so assertive before. What surprised him even more was how she had changed from
her usual soft demeanor to display a sharper, more cunning side.
He was certain that Erica must've done something to provoke her.
Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Angela gently rubbing the back of her right hand. It appeared to have a
red mark across it.
He immediately understood what had happened.
“Mr. Bamford......"” Erica suddenly turned to look at him. She put on a pitiful expression as if she had been terribly
wronged.
Angela's blood began to boil once again. She knew that once Erica spoke up, Dexter would undoubtedly defend
her.

expected.
"What's the matter? You were the one who broke the vase. Are you refusing to pay for it?" Angela scoffed. "I
didn't expect someone like you to stoop this low."
Erica's expression darkened. She was determined not to lose to Angela.
"If I'd broken it, I'd own up to it. But in this case, | didn't, so I'm not paying!" Erica shot back coldly. Her voice was
low but sharp.
“That's enough.” Dexter finally spoke up. “You'll have to pay for it,” he added coldly.
