First Love 34

Chapter 34

After Ursula and Cecilia left, Angela persuaded Joseph to rest. This left only her, Fiona, and Dexter in the room.

Plona sneered. "Well, you've shown a hint of wit today. That's a rare sight."

Angela felt a wave of frustration lodge in her throat at one. Sthings never changed.

"Why didn't you admit | slapped you just now?" Fiona's voice remained icy.

Tired of standing, Angela pulled out a chair and sat down before replying calmly, "I fought back earlier, didn't 1? If

Grandpa asked about it later, it'd be hard to explain."

The ongoing feud between her and Fiona was one thing, but Angela wasn't about to let herself become

someone's pawn or a subject of ridicule.

“Angela, don't think that I'll start liking you just because you backedup in front of Joseph. You know why he

favors you. With your petty tricks, you'd better focus on keeping him happy. If he ever tires of you, that'll be the

beginning of your divorce." Fiona's words were sharp.

Angela rolled her eyes inwardly. “And you're any different? If you've got the guts, stop letting Grandpa hold you

back and get Dexter to divorcealready.”

Since they were at Bamford Manor, Fiona wouldn't dare push things too far.

"You-

“Enough!” A low, commanding voice from the bed cut through the tension.

Dexter had been awake, but he had been lying silently while listening to the unfold. The moment he

opened his eyes, a sharp, cold glint flickered across his depthless gaze.

“Angela, you've really got snerve talking to my mom like that." As he sneered, his powerful presence

radiated through the room, capable of sending a chill of fear down anyone's spine.

However, Angela met his gaze, unfazed. "Did you go deaf? Or did you just miss how your dear mother humiliated

me?"

“Do you even think you're worthy of being compared to my mom?” Dexter let out a disdainful laugh. Angela was

left speechless.

"Since you're fine, I'm leaving. Bye," she said lazily, then turned on her heel to leave.

"Stop right there!”

Dexter's voice was icy, as though he were brimming with suppressed fury. "Did | say you could leave? What's the

rush? Are you heading off to meet Finn?"

Angela rolled her eyes again. "Unlike you, | don't share your penchant for cheating, I'm going hto paint."

She had been busy with other things these past few days, so she hadn't been livestreaming

“Paint?” Fiona interjected sharply. “Angela, Dexter is still lying here injured, and you're in the mood to paint?"

Angela froze for a moment, realizing she might've said too much. It was a mistake to even hint at her personal

plans to Fiona.

"You'll stay here and take care of him until he's fully recovered," Fiona ordered coldly when Angela didn't

respond.

“And if | refuse?” Angela was getting increasingly impatient with Fiona's condescending tone every tshe

spoke.

She now felt that the only way for Fiona to truly realize the importance of speaking properly was for her to

experience a real setback

“You refuse?” Fiona sneered. “What right do you have to refuse? Everything you have was given to you by

Dexter!"

Angela glanced at the slightly ajar door and smirked.

“Madam Fiona, if not for me, do you think you'd be walking out of here smiling today?

Keep pushing me, and | won't hesitate to change my story and let Grandpa know exactly what you did.”

Without waiting for a response, she turned and left, slamming the door behind her.

To her surprise, Cecilia was already waiting at the stairway landing
