Chapter 243
Shelley was at the front of the group. Her horse was much taller than the others. It gave off an imposing
presence.
She turned her head and lifted her chin in Angela's direction to taunt her.
Angela, however, simply averted her gaze indifferently. She didn't even bother to spare Shelley so much as a
glance.
As soon as the whistle blew, Shelley shouted, "Giddy up!"
Her riding posture was textbook perfect. She leaned slightly forward, her gaze sharp and focused, every muscle
in her body tense. She clamped her legs tightly against the horse's belly, coordinating her reins with the
occasional whip.
In less than a minute, she had already pulled ahead by half a lap.
The race was only five laps long, so it would be over quickly.
At this moment, Angela had no intention of stealing the spotlight. She planned to take it easy and just enjoy the
ride. It was clear that Shelley was determined to win first place today.
But just as Charcoal carried her through the second lap, he suddenly becfrantic for no apparent reason. He

Then, he started galloping unusually fast. Worst of all, he started galloping wildly, completely ignoring Angela's
commands.
"Coalie, what are you doing?" Angela cried out, her face blanching as she realized something was wrong.
She didn't panic. Instead, she quickly adjusted her posture and pressed her upper body against the horse's back.
Wrapping the reins tightly around her hands, she tried to regain control.
To her surprise, Charcoal sped up and bolted out of the racetrack. He charged straight toward the adjacent golf
course!
"Look over there!" Zayn suddenly shouted.
All the men waiting outside the track turned their attention to the scene.
Harvey remarked loudly with a shocked expression, "Has that horse gone crazy? Why is he running so fast?"
Angela was still on his back, and from the looks of it, she wasn't in a good situation.
"Don't go over, Dexter! The staff is on it. They're professionals. You'll—"
"Get out of the way!"
Dexter pushed Zayn aside and mounted a horse swiftly. His movements were fluid and elegant, but his face was
etched with worry.
"Go!" he shouted as soon as he got on the horse's back.
By then, Angela was barely holding on. She knew she couldn't fall down to the ground. If she did, there was a
high chance she'd be trampled. the horse. At best, she'd suffer sscuffs and broken bones. At worst, she
wouldn't survive.
The wind howled past her ears, and the scent of fresh grass from the golf course
filled the air. However, she didn't have the tor mood to appreciate it.
"Angela!"
Someone called her nfrom behind.
Angela jolted in surprise when she saw that it was Dexter. Why was he here?
Firstly, she had no idea he could ride a horse. Secondly, why would he cover during such a dangerous
situation?
Their horses were now only 30 feet apart. The sound of galloping hooves echoed loudly.
Dexter was riding a strong chestnut horse. He closed the distance between them in no time. But just as he was
about to reach her, Charcoal suddenly reared up on all four legs and accelerated even more.
Angela was exasperated. What was wrong with Charcoal? Why had he suddenly
gone berserk? Had she missed something when she checked him earlier?

His sharp gaze was locked onto her as he stretched out his hand toward her. His hand was large, with long
fingers and a thin layer of calluses on the palm-it looked reliable and safe.
But at this moment, Angela didn't dare take it.
Charcoal was completely out of control. It was one thing if she fell—but if she dragged Dexter down with her...
She would never be able to make it up to him in the future.
"No, | can't! Stay away from me! I'll figure it out myself!" Angela shouted back.
Dexter's voice suddenly turned commanding. "Stop talking nonsense! Giveyour hand now!"
