Chapter 955: Poppy's Accident On their way back, Jared received a call from Hayden, saying there was an issue at the estate in the suburbs and that Jared should cto check it out.

Tina was driving since Jared had been drinking earlier that afternoon. She asked for the location, planning to drop him off there before heading back to the Pace family estate. Jared, however, didn't agree. The suburb was far, and more importantly, the place was being renovated as a surprise for Tina. If she saw it beforehand, the surprise would be ruined. In the end, Jared told Hayden to pick him up instead.

When Hayden arrived, he looked visibly annoyed, his face sullen, and dark circles under his eyes. He got out of the car and headed straight for the driver's side.

"Jared, you're doing this on purpose. Don't think for a second that-Serena!" Tina turned to look at him calmly.

Hayden swallowed hard, his earlier aggressive demeanor vanishing instantly. "Serena? How cit's you? I thought..." Jared was lazily reclining in the passenger seat, his eyes narrowed as he glanced over. "And if it were me? What would you do? Killon the spot?" Hayden froze, speechless.

Even if he had such a thought, he didn't have the ability to act on it. Besides, with Serena present, he wouldn't dare lift a finger. If he tried, Serena would probably ensure his ashes were put to good use. Hayden forced a laugh. "Haha, as if I'd dare." Tina smirked faintly. "Hayden, make sure you do your job well." Hayden felt a shiver run down his spine.

Did Serena know something? Otherwise, why did this couple sound so perfectly in sync? After dropping Jared off, Tina turned the car around and started heading toward the Pace family estate. Once Tina was gone, Hayden's expression changed immediately. He tossed the car keys to Jared. "You drive. I need ssleep." Jared gave him a cold glance. "If I could drive, would I have asked you to cpickup?" Hayden froze and looked him over. "Since when have you had trouble with your legs?" Jared didn't respond, his expression darkening.

Sure enough, being too nice to people only backfired.

Meanwhile, just a few hundred meters away from the Pace family estate, there was a commotion at an intersection. Cars and pedestrians were stuck in a traffic jam, and the scene appeared chaotic. Tina decided to turn around and take another route. But then, she heard voices from outside.

"What a pity. It's been so long, and the child's parents still haven't shown up." "That poor kid. Who knows if they'll even make it through this?" "Yeah, there's so much blood on the ground. The kid's hurt so badly, yet they're still clutching a lotus flower in their hand. I wonder if their parents lost track of them." Tina frowned and hit the brakes, pulling the car to the side of the road.

Others might not have understood, but she did.

Lotus flowers and water lilies were similar, and from a distance, it could be hard for ordinary people to tell them apart.

A child holding a lotus flower...

Tina immediately thought of someone.

In the crowd, lying in a pool of blood, was a child clutching a twin lotus. It was Poppy.

Tina rushed forward, picked Poppy up in her arms, and fed him a pill before taking out her acupuncture kit and starting treatment on the spot.

"Hey, who are you? Don't you know you're not supposed to move someone after an accident? And you're feeding him something?" "Yeah! You're not a doctor, so why are you acting like one? And what's with the needles? Instead of taking him to the hospital, you're wasting twith this nonsense!" "This is a life we're talking about! Are you even human? How could you be so cruel?" "Let go of him right now, or we'll call the police!" The crowd's criticisms grew louder, with speople stepping forward to push Tina away.

"Get lost!" Tina's expression was ice-cold, her entire demeanor exuding an oppressive chill.

The person closest to her froze, intimidated by the aura she gave off. Still, unwilling to back down, they tried to justify themselves. "You... You're harming him by doing this!" "Then why don't you save him?" Tina shot back coldly. The person immediately fell silent.

Tina had no patience for these onlookers who only knew how to point fingers.

When she had checked Poppy's pulse earlier, she realized his injuries were far worse than she had initially thought.

All she could do now was temporarily stabilize his heart meridian to buy him tto get to the hospital. Otherwise, the consequences could be fatal.

Without wasting another second, Tina quickly called Alina, instructing her to meet at the hospital.

There was no tto wait for an ambulance. She would take him herself.

At the Swanson family estate, Kaleigh pushed open the door to find Kevin pouring his medicine into the plants, as usual.

She frowned. "Brother, it's been so long. Why don't you just let Grandfather know?" Kevin replied calmly, "It's not tyet." Then, turning toward her, he asked, "What do you need?" Kaleigh gestured toward the door with her chin, her tone indifferent. "Brother, have you seen Poppy?" Kevin walked over, his tone casual. "No. Why?" Kaleigh shrugged. "The people responsible for watching him cto me. They said Poppy disappeared during his nap. They even checked the surveillance footage but couldn't find him anywhere..." "When?" Kaleigh was startled by the sudden change in Kevin's tone. "What?" "I'm asking you-when did Poppy disappear?" This time, Kaleigh could feel Kevin's anger. She hesitated for a moment before replying, "About an hour ago..." Before she could finish, Kevin was already gone.

At the hospital, Alina and Ruud arrived to find that Tina had already gone into the operating room with the lead surgeon.

Two hours later, Tina finally emerged.

Ruud rushed up to her, anxiously scanning her for any injuries. "Tina, are you okay?" Tina removed her mask, her lips twitching slightly but making no effort to avoid Ruud's hands. "I wasn't the one in the car accident." Alina approached, her concern directed toward Poppy. "How is he?"

Tina's expression grew serious. "The car accident caused internal om bleeding. If I hadn't happened to pass by the outcwould have been exactly what speople wanted." A cold glint flashed across Alina's face.

She knew how much the Swanson family valued Poppy. There was no way they would let him wander off alone, let alone end up so far away.

Tina's lips curled into a faint, mocking smile. "And as if by coincidence, the child was clutching a twin lotus at the scene of the accident." Alina's gaze darkened completely.

The car accident might have been an accident initially, but the involvement of the Pace family's twin latus"m changed everything. Whether or not the Pace family orchestrated it no longer mattered. This was a deliberate setup. A schthat used human lives as leverage.

"Brother!"

River stormed into the hospital, her face full of panic. When she saw Ruud, she immediately pushed toward him. "Ruud, I heard my m brother was in a car accident. How is he now?" Before Ruud could respond, River burst into tears. "Grandfather always loved him so much. If something happens to him, I won't go on living!" Tina sneered, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Then you might as well die now." River froze, forgetting to wipe her tears. "Are you saying... Poppy is... dead?" Tina's tone was calm, almost indifferent. "You seem quite pleased at the thought of his death."
