"My-My Arm!" A cultivator shouted, for his arm had been severed by a flying orb. He had indeed been careless, having grown overconfident after absorbing a bunch of Sparks in a short duration.
Now, he lay on the ground, losing blood, not having the means to protect himself. He indeed had brought some herbs and gauge to save himself, but that wasn't enough.
After all, in this dangerous environment, the loss of an arm could very well lead to his death.
"Let me take a look at your wounds." Suddenly, a mysterious man wearing a deer mask appeared before him, crouching to look at his severed arm.
"Go away…" The cultivator said weakly, "I don't have any treasures for you to loot. I'm just a dying man."
"Then, I'll give you a new lease at life." Compass Carburettor said, probing through the severed arm as he spoke, pointing at but upward in his arm, "There are some crushed bone fragments here. If you have a sword, make a cut here. It'll make things easier for me to heal you."
"W-why are you doing this?" The cultivator asked, unable to believe him, "There's nothing for you to save me here."
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"There is though." Compass Carburettor smiled, "When you leave the Folkan Secret Realm, head to the hospital in Ohka City and pay for me healing services there. I'm not healing you for free."
"T-This…" The cultivator was stupefied, "You're not afraid I'll skimp out on paying you?"
"Means you don't value your life that much." Compass Carburettor smiled, "Well, it's your wish anyway. If you want to pay in the future, do it. Otherwise, just think of this as a free service. Now, don't waste my time and do as I told."
'Fine, I'm almost a dead man anyway. Might as well do this.' The cultivator gritted his teeth, unsheathing his sword as he severed higher up in his severed arm, causing blood to gush out once again, grunting in pain.
Right at this time, Compass Carburettor touched his forehead for a moment, instantly making all his pain vanished. And mysteriously, the cultivator watched his arm regrowing rapidly.
Within a couple of minutes, it had grown completely, shocking him when Compass Carburettor spoke timely, "This arm isn't as strong as your trained arm. So, you'll have to rehabilitate it and train it to be as strong as your original arm once again."
"T-Thank you! Thank you very much! This is fine!" The cultivator shed tears, clenching his regrown hand as he kowtowed, stating, "Merciful doctor, please allow me to follow you."
"I refuse." Compass Carburettor said, getting up as he began to walk away, "I'll be hunting for those Sparks myself while healing any injured I come across. So, I'll don't want anyone to follow me."
"Please allow me to pay you right now." The cultivator said, pressing his forehead on the ground, "I wish to express my gratitude. Since doctor is also looking for the Sparks, I'll bring them to you."
"You don't need to do that for me." Compass Carburettor waved his hand, sighing when he noticed that the cultivator didn't seem to be listening, hurriedly heading off towards a nearby Essence Beast as he used his Origin Arts to capture an orb, damaging it a bit until it stopped moving.
He then brought it to Compass Carburettor, presenting it to him, "Please, doctor. Please don't refuse this."
"Hah…" Compass Carburettor sighed, shaking his head like it was a pain as he took the orb, "Alright, you've paid me with this. Now, go along. Don't miss this chance to grow stronger."
"Yes!" The cultivator bowed in gratitude before leaving.
"Doctor…please heal me." Another cultivator approached him, having witnessed the entire transaction, dragging his injured leg.
"Take a seat here." Compass Carburettor pointed at a nearby boulder, inspecting the cultivator's leg, stating, "It's been smashed pretty horribly. My Martial Spirit isn't that strong in healing as I can only regrow body parts. You'll have to sever your broken leg so that I can grow it anew. Do note that it wouldn't be as strong as the original. You'll need a month or two to make it as strong as the original. Do you accept this?"
"Yes, doctor. It's not like I have a choice anyway. I can't hunt with a broken leg." The cultivator nodded in a hurry.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Alright, I'll make the pain in your leg go away." Compass Carburettor touched the cultivator's forehead, watching his eyes light up in response when his pain vanished instantly.
Upon his orders, the cultivator slashed his leg, watching it regrow anew, thanking Compass Carburettor profusely once it was done, paying with a couple of orbs that he had hunted.
As he walked away, more and more injured cultivators began to seek his services. The reason Compass Carburettor was doing this was because his tower shield had run out of strength. So, capturing the orbs was risky.
There was plenty of examples before him, after all. They were all cultivators without any tower shields that tried to hunt for the orbs. Some were successful, but after some attempts, they began to get more and more injured.
After all, the orbs revolving in the outer perimeter of the Essence Beasts had all been captured. So, they now have to capture the inner perimeter orbs that were faster, stronger, and riskier to come into contact with.
The only reason Compass Carburettor managed to directly reach it was thanks to his tremendously tough tower shield. And now, if he still wished to capture orbs, he'll have to risk his life. And, that was dangerous as all along, Chenger was four hundred metres from him, maintaining the distance constantly.
And, he also observed some of her men in his vicinity, observing his actions. This meant that the moment he got injured by the orbs, they would target him with the intent to kill.
Moreover, this was a contest of luck. And in a situation with many variables acting against him, his luck would be stretched thin in an effort to protect himself. This means, if Chenger attacked him at that point, he wouldn't have enough luck to defend against her luck.
This was the bet method to deal anyone that relied on luck. And hence, Compass Carburettor enacted his Sleeper Cell Project here too, gaining both orbs and turning the customers into Sleeper Cells.
Best of all, he acted like he was a mere healer. That wasn't all, when one of Chenger's men approached close enough, he planted the Sleeper Cell seeds in them too. In a situation surrounding him where no variables were detrimental to him, his guard of luck was solid.
Meaning, he could target Chenger from his defensive stance.
