Chapter 1778

After a while, Emily wiped her tears and got up to leave.

She arrived back at the office just as noon was striking. Edgar invited her to have lunch together.

As she mulled over the words Charlie had said, her mind was filled with a tumult of emotions. At the same time, a

joy she couldn’t express began to bubble up in her heart.

“Hey, what’s on your mind?” Edgar asked, waving his hand in front of her face. “You’re even spacing out during

lunch: Emily lifted her head and gave him a bright smile, “It’s nothing.”

“Are you in love? You seem different than usual,’ Edgar teased.

Emily rolled her eyes, “How am I different?”

Edgar thought for a moment, then laughed, “It’s just a feeling. You used to look like you’d seen it all, except when

you were designing. Now, there’s a spark in your eyes.”

Emily looked surprised, “Have you seen it all? Isn’t that a bit dramatic?”

Edgar burst out laughing.

After lunch, she went back to work. As the day was wrapping up, she brought her building blueprint to Cedric for his

review.

Cedric looked it over, then smiled, “Not bad, I think it’s good. Let’s send it to Mr. Gavin”

Emily paused for a moment, then replied softly, “Since it’s nearly time to clock out, I’ll go ahead and take the

blueprint to the James Group for Mr. James to review.”

Cedric looked up in surprise, “Are you going to deliver it yourself?”

Emily nodded, “Yes.”

“Alright, go ahead. If there’s anything he’s not satisfied with, you can handle it face-to-face.”

“T’ll be going then.”

“Okay: Emily thanked Cedric, packed up her things, and headed to the James Group with her blueprint.

She took a taxi there and entered the James Building. The receptionist recognized her and didn’t ask if she had an

appointment, just ushered her onto the elevator.

Once she reached the thirty-ninth floor, Emily looked around at the place she once worked. The familiar feeling was

overwhelming, but her feelings were completely different this time.

However, thinking of seeing him made her slightly nervous.

“Emily?” Maggie asked in surprise, a sweet smile on her face. “What brings you here? Do you need Mr. James?”

Emily smiled, “Yes, is Mr. James in?”

“Mr. James is in a meeting. Did you make an appointment?” Maggie asked.

“No, I just wanted to show him the blueprint. I care over on the spur of the moment.”

“By the way, you designed the James Group’s building in North District. I never thought we’d still be working

together after you left the James Group.” Maggie said with a light laugh, “But Mr. James isn’t involved with the

building design anymore. You should talk to Mr. Gavin. He’s in a meeting too. Would you like to wait in his office?”

“No thank you, I’ll wait here,” Emily replied, sitting down on the couch.

Maggie’s eyes flickered and she chuckled, “Alright, then you wait here.”

Emily didn’t respond, feeling that Maggie was different than before.

She looked down at the blueprint in her hand, quietly waiting for Charlie.

Suddenly Maggie called out, “Emily, could you make me a cup of coffee?”

Emily looked up in surprise, “Are you talking to me?”

Maggie peeked over, “Yes, could you make me a cup of coffee? I’m really swamped.”

Emily stared at her for a moment, “Sure.”

She went to the break room and made a cup of coffee, placing it on Maggie’s desk. As she was about to leave,

Maggie handed her a stack of papers, “Could you also photocopy these for me?”

Emily’s expression cooled slightly, “I’m not an employee of the James Group.”
