"Sia!"
Varian opened his eyes and looked at himself. He was no longer holding her.
He couldn't feel her soft and comforting back. Nor could he smell her pleasant perfume.
'I won't go! I won't go!' Her cries sounded in his mind.
"…Yet, you went away." Varian took a deep breath to calm his agitating emotions, but his cheeks were already wet.
Boom!
Varian didn't control his powers and accidentally used his telekinetic powers on the walls. A huge dent formed in the golden wall.
After a minute, Varian calmed himself down.
He noticed the wall and muttered. "Level 7 in the telekinetic path. It is Macro-Kinetic now."
Then, he focused his mind inside his memory palace.
The fog at one of the edges was significantly reduced.
[88% fog left.]
Varian was surprised. From the previous 90%, it was down to 88%.
2% in one session!
Since he exhausted his psychic power completely, he'd be able to repeat this one more time today. Anymore, he would be injuring his own mind due to overexertion.
"4% per day, it takes 22 days and a half to remove the whole fog," Varian muttered and his expression turned sour.
He and Enigma entered the ruins on the evening of the 30th. Now, it's already the 31st of Trian Month. The ruins would stay open only till the 45th.
Sia avoided him when she learned he didn't recover all his memories. If he met her on 45th and said his memories weren't back yet, she might run away.
"And why is she so obsessed about this?" Varian sighed.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtIn the corner of his mind, there was a possibility. No. It was an answer. But his subconscious rejected it firmly.
'Save Sia.'
Those were his mother's last words.
Save from what?
The most likely possibility was the fire wolf. His mother didn't know Sia was also a gravity awakener and thought of her only as a mind awakener.
So, she might have asked the physically fit Varian to help the physically vulnerable Sia.
But there was also another possibility…
Pop! Pop!
A plopping sound and a weird sensation pulled Varian back from his thoughts.
The muscles on his began to expand and contract. It was like the air was being pumped in and out.
The chi in Varian's body rose exponentially. Like a raging tide engulfing a forest, the chi engulfed his blood, organs, and bones, down to the last fiber of his body.
At a microscopic level, the chi began to link with the cells.
In levels 1-3, chi merely acted as a coating in the body that improved physical performance.
In levels 4-6, chi coated the cells and amplified their output at a cellular level.
Now, the same chi seeped into the cells.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
It was like a thousand bombs went off in his body, Varian trembled violently as a terrifying pain coursed through his body.
Plop! Plop! Plop!
It first started at his left foot. It throbbed like it was about to explode before calming down abruptly.
Next was his right foot. Then, his calves, knees, and all the way to his neck.
Finally, his head buzzed.
Varian felt like his head was about to explode. Veins popped up on his forehead and his eyes turned red.
His vision blurred and the world went out of focus.
Next was his hearing. The wisps of the wind, the throbbing of his heart, the breathing of his lungs, he couldn't hear them anymore.
The smell died next. Be it the smell of his own blood or the unique smell that wafted in the air from the golden walls that reminded him of an old jewelry shop, their smells vanished.
The throbbing amplified. Varian's vision turned dark.
He couldn't see, smell or hear anything.
In a matter of moments, he also lost the sense of his touch and taste.
Varian remained in a state of darkness that could've sent fear into most men.
It was terrifying darkness.
You couldn't do anything there. You just existed. Unable to move, unable to see, unable to even feel your own self.
Varian's consciousness drifted in the darkness. Like a boat sailing in a raging storm, he tossed back and forth, looking for a way to reach the harbor.
Time passed indefinitely and Varian's consciousness continued to search for a way out of this seemingly unending darkness.
After an unknown period of time, he found it!
In the far distance, there was a ray of light.
Varian's consciousness reached there the fastest it could and the ray of light slowly became clear.
It was a tunnel.
When he entered it, the darkness exploded and the world came into existence.
Varian opened his eyes and his jaw dropped in shock. He didn't see anything extraordinary. It was still the same room.
But the way he saw it had completely changed.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmFrom level 3 to level 4, it was a shift from 480p quality vision to 4k. Now, it was 8k, no, 32k.
And it was damn flexible!
Varian could see the tiniest of detail in the room. He could zoom in and out with ease. He could also see for almost a hundred miles with high precision. It was a crazy improvement.
His hearing, smell, touch, and taste all skyrocketed.
Each moment, they brought his brain tonnes of sensory information. Thankfully, his brain also seemed to have improved to deal with this mega load.
So, Varian didn't feel any burden despite upgrading to a higher-quality worldview.
"Senses are all and good, but what I really need to test in body path is…" Varian disappeared and appeared in front of a golden wall.
"My strength!" Pulling his hand back, he clenched his fist and punched out.
Boom!
Even before his fist hit the wall, the air exploded and shockwaves spread throughout the room.
Bam!
A deep fist imprint was formed on the wall and with it as the center, cracks began to spread across the wall.
A bright light flashed and repaired the wall.
Varian's lips curled up and he kicked the ground.
Whoosh!
In the blink of an eye, he was high in the sky, miles above the ground.
The cold wind traveling at high speeds hit him, but it felt like a gentle breeze.
Varian saw the world below him.
Even though everything surrounding the golden room was still completely dark, he felt like even that darkness was more clear now.
In a few seconds, Varian reached the room. He easily prevented a crash using his telekinetic power.
Now, there was only one path left.
'Space…'
Varian's body disappeared.
