What Master Deathseeker brought him was the higher versions of the techniques he had already learned and the top secret Divine Techniques. As for the other techniques, like Grim Death's Awakening, he didn't have the chance to learn of their existence.
But he knew its essence was nothing but puppetry, something that has no use to him when he could get everything done with a wave of his hand.
However, he would like to learn it if possible.
With a goal in mind, he walked into the gates of the Ghost Tear Hall's hideout. It was a small hideout but located inside was a mini realm. It was none other than the Extinguished Fissure Mini Realm that the gatekeeper spoke about.
"You're finally here."
He was just about to enter when Master Deathseeker appeared.
"Yes, get me a jade slip of the Grim Death's Awakening. I'd also like to take a look at the Library of Death to gain access to more tech-"
"Aiya, everything here is yours. Go wherever you want with my token."
Master Deathseeker threw him his token and walked over to him before throwing his hand around his shoulder and walking him inside the spatial vortex leading to the mini realm.
Once Davis was inside, he was not awed.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtIt was dark.
He could barely see twenty meters ahead, almost like the entire realm was under some sort of formation. Towards the side, he could see occultic buildings decorated with skeletons and whatnot.
Truly remarkable as it implied death to those who visited, but it didn't suit his tastes as he wished to nurture a family.
Nonetheless, the setting and the atmosphere of the area were perfect for the Ghost Tear Hall.
Any invader who chanced upon this place was going to be intimidated by the outlook and killed in one or two attacks. He could see why the Ghost Tear Hall survived to this day. Those who found this place probably never left, and if they had managed to escape, they would've fallen from some poisonous attack.
"Are you surprised?"
Master Deathseeker asked, appearing to have some pride.
Davis's lips curled. When he imbued his soul sense into the token, he could see through everything including traps. He guessed that Master Deathseeker wanted to let him know that he was safe here, making him smile.
"I am. I didn't expect the Ghost Tear Hall to have an impregnable dark fortress as it is assassin's nature to move and hide when found."
"You got that right." Master Deathseeker chuckled, "However, we're also masters of death, so we were arrogant and self-serving until you came and displayed the ridiculous purity of your death energy."
Davis nodded, "Alright, let's go see the ill Second Ancestor."
"You don't know the Second Ancestor, but he knows you quite well from me. I had my eye on you, and so did the elders, particularly the Second Ancestor."
Master Deathseeker smiled condescendingly, "He was my teacher for a period of time and also my godfather, although you shouldn't expect that I had a fine upbringing or a family like yours."
"Aha." Davis chuckled, "I'd be afraid to step into this dark, twisted place if that were the case."
"No way you're that different from us, Mister Anarchic Divergent. Ahaha~"
Master Deathseeker burst out laughing, causing Davis to raise his hand, which caused the former to sidestep and continue laughing.
After calming down, he patted Davis's shoulder.
"The Second Ancestor was willing to let go of all your transgressions when you made some trouble for us. You have yet to complete a few missions you have taken, but the Second Ancestor was willing to overlook them. In other words, every set of strict and cruel rules we have in place was taken out for you even before you showed your worth, all because you displayed that ounce of pure death energy to me."
"The way we see it, you are our one and only hope to cure the Deathly Madness Sickness and bring Death Laws to the forefront, making it become a viable source of energy to be used in a battle or anything instead of being afraid that it would harm us instead."
"I see."
Davis nodded at Master Deathseeker's passionate speech.
He guessed the entire higher-ups of the Ghost Tear Hall were waiting for him here.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmEventually, after walking down the streets filled with spine-chilling cold winds that reeked with the scent of death despite being impure, he stepped into a dark, cold, obsidian palace.
The moment he placed his foot there, he could sense the walls and tiles were plated with minute crumbs from death-attributed ore. This place was good for practicing and comprehending Death Laws and made him feel at home somehow, causing Davis to shake his head.
Eventually, he chanced upon a chamber where eight old men, some with hunched backs and canes of darkness or death-attributed origins.
However, Davis's gaze was sent toward the center.
There was a floating obsidian metallic eye shedding a crimson tear that went right back into a tiny hole beneath its surface. However, its eye seemed real, as though it was the eye of some beast from a horror story with how unmoving it was, appearing terrifying to look at.
At the center of the hall was one of Ghost Tear Hall's Legacy Artifact, the eye that watched over all sorts of contracts but Davis knew its powers shouldn't be just that. He felt that there was more to it than it meets the eyes as he glared at it, feeling a sense of dread envelop him.
It was using the little bit of karmic connection it held over him due to the contract he signed when entering the Ghost Tear Hall.
'This Legacy Artifact is definitely strong and has a spirit of its own, probably unbound by any of them here…'
Davis guessed that this treasure's prowess was at the Peak-Level Immortal Emperor Grade if it could threaten him.
The Ghost Tear Hall truly did hide something terrifying.
"Welcome to the true headquarters of the Ghost Tear Hall, Young Master Davis."
At this moment, the eight Ancestors all bowed towards Davis, causing him to move his gaze from the Legacy Artifact and measure them.
The second seat was missing a person, and naturally, he guessed that it should belong to the ill Second Ancestor.
"Take me to the Second Ancestor. I'll see what I can do."
