Chapter 711

Maja stood frozen as Selena sneered at her from across the room, spinning around in a circle.

“Look at you, Christmas is around the corner. Who are you planning to spend it with this year? Most of your family

is already gone, and your ex–husband lan doesn’t give a damn about you. If it wasn’t for the Raymonds, the

Pennyfeather group would have gone belly up a long time ago. You’ve been nothing but a leech, depending on the

Raymonds. You’re a real jinx! My marriage wouldn’t be in shambles if it weren’t for you!”

She took a deep breath but couldn’t hold it in any longer and started to cry.

“You awful woman, if losing a child can’t make you back off from lan, then you’re nothing but a lowlife. Believe me,

lan will make you lose another child, he will never be a good father!”

Selena’s voice choked as she continued, “lan is a heartless monster, I should’ve never let him live. Now I’m

divorcing his father, he couldn’t care less, he’s an emotionless freak. If only Eric was still alive.”

Her words trailed off into a sob, she was losing it.

Maja just happened to run into her. Selena had been a wreck lately; her mind was a mess.

Hearing Selena calling lan an emotionless monster over and over, Maja felt a pang of sadness.

“Ms. Casson, isn’t lan your own son?”

How could anyone talk about their own child in that manner?

Selena jerked her head up, her eyes filled with resentment.

“So what? I’m divorcing his father, yet he didn’t care to speak a word in my defense. He doesn’t care about me,

nor his father. Maybe he was the one behind what had happened to Eric back then! How else would he get into his

current position?”

Realizing Maja was defending lan, Selena raised her eyebrows and burst into laughter.

“You really are a lowlife, just like your whore of a mother. Don’t tell me you actually like lan! Have you already

forgotten the pain of losing that child?! Maja, if Lillian knew how you were ruining your body, she would be turning

in her grave. My son really played you for a fool, made you lose a child, and you’re still chasing after him.”

Selena was losing her mind.

She mentioned Lillian, Maja’s hidden warmth.

Even though Maja knew that she wasn’t Lillian’s child, Lillian was always the elder she respected the most.

Selena’s words were like a thorn, piercing through her heart.

Indeed, Lillian had reminded her countless times to take care of her body.

“Maja, your man would respect you when you care about your career. Never harm your body for them.”

The pain of losing the child was almost forgotten, but now, it hit her harder than ever before.

But Selena kept going.

“My son is so smart; he spent a night with Lillian’s daughter but took no responsibility. This slut got what she

deserved, women like her should be treated this way!”

Maja stood there for a long time. When she regained her senses, Selena was nowhere to be seen.

She didn’t feel like going to shop for Christmas anymore.

She didn’t go to Greenfield Gardens, instead, she went back to Rosewood Manor.

After taking a bath and lying on the bed, Selena’s words echoed in her head.

The pain was unbearable. Just as she turned off the light, her phone rang.

It was lan.

“Didn’t you go back to the Greenfield Gardens?”

Maja stared at the darkness in the room, her voice was flat, “Didn’t go back.”

“Why not? Did you buy the stuff?”

“No.”

“What’s wrong? Not in the mood?”

“No.”

The conversation was cold.

lan was lying on the hospital bed, feeling incredibly frustrated.

He had just recovered from a high fever and called her, but she seemed indifferent.

“Penny, if I don’t feel the Christmas vibe when I’m back, you know what I’ll do.”

He hung up, feeling stuffy.

And so, he spent a stuffy week.
