I awoke with a start. It was already morning.
Gods, it had only been a dream
The tears falling down my eyes were tears of relief.
1 wasn't alone - | realized; slowly, Iturned to see the other person on the bed, it was Thane, and he was very much awake.
“You seem to be having a nightmare,” he said, but there was something different about him.
“You scared me. When did you return from your trip with Isabella?” Lasked, watching him; | couldn't push away the strange feeling, like something was
very wrong and yet his scent hadn't changed.
“A few hours ago. | didn't want to wake you,” he explained

“Yes, | did.”
So Isabella was right; there is a cure.”
“She is, and now you don't have to worry aboutlosing control; | have been cured completely.”
“That was..."
“Fast?”

The word on my mind was unbelievable, but | nodded, with a smile on my face.
“You know | am really glad to hear this.” | say, rising to my feet and heading to the balcony. | threw the door wide
open, letting the sun in.
For sreason | felt like this wasn’t Thane. There was something bizarre about his response, and | had
to be sure.
“Join me.” | said to him, giving him a smile.
He rose from the bed, walking to my side; the sun showered on his form, but he remained unfazed.
Demons had completely cold skin; that was another way to find out, and so | reached out to him, holding his
hands in mine, and they were the very swarm hands.
Gods, | felt like a fool.
Maybe it had been the unsettling dream | had earlier, but | had thought he sounded different; | could not believe
| hadn’t been able to tell that this was Thane right away.
I hugged him; he patted my back gently.
“I'm so glad you are back, | didn’t think you would be back this soon, you kept to your promise. Thank you.”
“I have to go to work now.”

“But you just cback; you need to rest.
“I am fine, and there are a lot of things that require my attention.”
| watched him walk away to get dressed; he hadn't even kissed me. Thane was the type that could hardly keep
his hands to himself. He had finally managed to get the cure; of course, ‘sex’ should have been the way to
celebrate this, but he didn’t seem in the mood.
I wouldn't force him; all he needed was stime.
| took a long bath, washing myself clean, and then | slipped on a nightgown that was a bit on the revealing side. |
waited for his return.
He did cback right on time, but he didn’t spare even a single glance at me; he walked right into his dressing
room and changed off his clothes before returning back to bed.
“Uhmm, how was work?” | asked, in an attempt to start up a conversation.
