All the destroyed furniture in the room had already been replaced. I took only sof my clothes, a few other things | needed, and | was packed in no
time.
1 didn’t want to think too much about this; if I did, it would only result inbreaking down in tears. | also feared that if | paused to think about what | was
doing, then maybe | would change my mind.
“What do you want, Isabella?” | asked. She remained by the door to “Thane's room’.
“Con, don't do this.”
I turned to her. “You don't have to pretend like you don't want it.”
“I do, Riley. | want to sleep in the sroom with him, but he doesn’t; he wants to be with you.”
“This is the only way; how else would the pack be safe? It's not going to be
permanent, and Ill still be a short walk away; it's just for the meantime.” | said, and finally she gave in.
“I'm sorry, Riley.”
“Take care, Isabella, and take care of Thane too.”
“I will,” she promised.

| found a free room, a good distance away from Thane; it was a bit smaller, but | could work with it. Finally alone,
| let myself cry. | knew it wasn’t his fault, and yet, H didn’t want to understand this; | just wished it had been me
in Isabella’s place.
Thane walked into my new apartment, not bothering to knock- | must have forgotten to lock the door. | couldn't
let him seein tears, so | turned my back to him.
“What do you want?”
“You are really going to go through with this?”

“Riley, you are acting crazy, and | don't like it.”

“I know you will, Thane, but until then, don’t visit; | need sspace; | just need stto think.”
“I can’t stay away from you, Riley.”
“This is what | want.”
