The morning approached and I plus few other guys have been drinking in the pub area, talking about our lives as hunters and the future of the planet. Will and Adam were also there, mainly because we needed to kill time, waiting for more information, and the decision that the world's leaders made.
We sat around one of the tables, now covered by empty bottles and glasses. Some used to contain alcohol, others were just some juice or different types of soda since not everybody wanted the alcoholic stuff.
We were interrupted by Vikram, who had just shown himself, so the three of us would follow him upstairs so he would tell us what he found out in private. Adam was the first who noticed him and poked me with his elbow, so I would look in the direction he nodded.
- Let's go - I told to them and stood up.
All three of us followed my assistant to the elevator, leaving the rest that watched us carefully remaining at the table. He led us to his room, where Adam's assistant was already waiting. After the door got closed he immediately spoke.
- They decided to join, so there won't be a war - he said with a serious face. - The world will need you though because to prove we are strong. Our toughest people will fight some of those that want to invade us.
- Like one battle with just a few people on each side? - asked Adam.
- No. Whoever they will bring will face whoever we will bring. One by one. You fight to the point you surrender or die. Then the next person comes, and they take down as many as they possibly can - explained his assistant.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt- So it's like a tournament? - asked Will.
- Not exactly, but similar.
- So we are going from one tournament to another? - asked Adam.
- It seems this way - said Vikram. - The details are still unknown like we don't know where it will happen and when. They just told us, to speak with you, and confirm that you will represent the earth.
- We will - said William. - They don't have to worry about that. It's our home after all.
- Good. Pack your belongings then. We are moving to Lisbon in Portugal to be closer to the events. The jets are being prepared as we speak - said Adam's assistant.
- You are taking everybody from here? - I asked.
- No. We are taking the best people. We don't know yet how many will be able to represent us yet, though, so some of you might fly back home soon. One thing is certain. That's it for the tournament for now - Vikram explained. - We are going to inform the rest, so you can go and prepare for the travel.
I nodded.
With that, we went to our rooms to pack things. I didn't really have anything, so I just dropped an anchor in y room, and quickly jumped to Loistavadvaar to check if maybe The Great One is not there, but he wasn't.
The trip reminded me that I still had those two red crystals I didn't use. Right now seemed to be a good time to spend them. Not on myself though, as they wouldn't make that much of a difference for me, but Will, for example, could benefit very strongly from using even one of those.
I still hesitated, because that was a lot of points, and I wasn't sure if I was willing to give them away, but the possibility was definitely on my mind.
I returned to my hotel room thinking about it, and I remained doing so as we packed to the cars, and left the hotel, heading towards the airport. Vikram was with me, but we didn't speak for obvious reasons.
The departure was almost immediate. During the flight, we got a message that another ship appeared close to the previous one. It was bigger, apparently the size of a major city. This raised concerns in others and in me too.
We landed after few hours and switched to cars to be driven straight to a mansion on the outskirts of the city prepared just for us. Not everybody ended up in the same place. We were split into two groups. The Hungarian gate hunters had their separate house in the vicinity of ours.
We arrived at the right place, and a large, black gate with many decorations in the shapes of grapevines, and the fruits themselves, opened for us. The metal fence had the same patterns and was surrounding the whole property, including the garden that was obscuring the view of the house.
It opened automatically, and the cars one by one drove forward through the brick road, passing through the large garden, and leading all the way to a small plaza in front of the mansion.
It had white facades, and gray walls, with many windows in also white frames. The roof was covered by black tiles. The whole thing was elevated a bit, and short, but wide stairs were leading towards the see-through door made of glass and wood pained also white.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm- I'll be in a hotel nearby - said Vikram to me, as the two of us left our car in front of the steps. - There will be a contact for all of you stationing near the house. They will inform you if anything will happen, but be prepared to depart at any given moment.
I heard the same words from other assistants that were living the cars with their designated hunters next to us. I nodded and started climbing up.
I stopped before the entrance and waited for Will, who was carrying his bag filled with clothes. As soon as he made it all the way to me I stopped him.
- We need to talk, in private, preferably.
He nodded. The cars in the background were already leaving.
- Let me drop the bag inside - he said, and continued walking.
I went down the stairs I just climbed deciding we should get a bit away from the house, so the others wouldn't accidentally hear what we were to talk about.
He showed up again in a moment and joined me.
- What's going on? - he asked.
- Let's go for a walk - I proposed.
He shrugged his shoulders, and we started going towards the large garden ahead of us.
