"Did you know that she's the one making the hybrids?" I pushed. The more I got her talking, the more information I could get to piece things together.
"How?" At first, I thought she was inquiring about how Xena was making hybrids. It tooka second to realize she was asking how I found out it was Xena who was making them.
"Remember the hybrid we fought? He spilled a couple of things. It wasn't hard to figure out the rest," I explained before continuing. "Now, did you know?" She sighs. "I had my suspicions, but I didn't have any evidence linking her to it." "I don't get it. How is she powerful enough to create a whole new species? We, too, are powerful, but I doubt we could do what she is doing." "I can't tell you right now, because you are not ready for that conversation or the truth that will be unleashed... and don't be so sure; nothing in this world is impossible." I wanted so badly to argue with her on the whole 'you are not ready' issue, but I pushed down my irritation. Like I said, I couldn't aggravate her, not when she was talking.

"What do you mean?" I questioned in confusion. Did she mean that we were as powerful as Xena or that we could make new species? But that's impossible. Only the deities can. That's why it's so hard to understand how Xena is able to do it.
"Exactly that. Don't limit yourself. Nothing in this world is impossible." It sounded more like what a motivational speaker would spew rather than an answer. I got it then. She didn't want to expound, so for now I didn't push things.
"What happened to Xena? How cshe turned out the way she is right now?" "She wasn't always like that. The Xena I remembered was sweet and kind. She was my biggest cheerleader, my protector, and my confidant. She was basically my everything. I loved her so much that it hurt, and she lovedjust the same. She was stronger than I was, more powerful, but I honestly didn't mind.
I was content with my life; I didn't really crave any power. Things started to change, though. She would make hurtful comments here and there, sneer at me, and scold me, among other things. I didn't take them seriously at first because she was always quick to apologize. We would make up and things would go back to normal. But then things completely changed one day. To me, it seemed like she changed overnight, but looking back, I realize that it's something that had been building up. We just didn't realize it until it was too late." She ends the last part in a whisper, her voice ragged, as if the words were chocking her. She stops talking and silence engulfs us. I waited, but nothing. When I realized she wasn't going to continue, I decided to ask the question that had been bothering me.
I get that the change in Xena must have cas a surprise to her, but it still doesn't answer the question as to why they are prepping to fight each other.
"I don't get it though; how did you end up like this? So, what happened? How did you end up against each other? It just doesn't make sense." Nyx goes silent. She seemed a bit distant, almost as if for a moment her mind went back in time. Like she was lost reminiscing.
I waited for an answer, but it didn't come. All I got was her feelings overshadowing mine. On top of the list is hurt. A lot of hurt and pain. Following behind is a lot of anger and then, lastly, is a bit of hatred and resentment.
My mind spins as I try to figure it out.

"I've been having this feeling that, somehow, Kaden is connected to all this. Am I right or am I just overthinking things?" That anger that I felt seconds ago? Yeah, it flares up in waves. It is so strong, so hot, that it almost consumes me.
"Don't mention that fucking bastard to me." Nyx growled, her anger and hatred washing ove me, almost suffocating me. "He and Xena took something fromand for that they are going to pay dearly." She doesn't wait for a response. She just closes our link and shutsoff.
If I needed confirmation, there it was.
