Chapter 51: Nightmare Seeing her so upset, Michael felt his own heart ache.

She never told him any of this.

1/4 "Lucy had it all. Dad spent all his money on her overseas education, leaving Mom andwith just debts. When Mom got sick, those debts fell on me. I thought getting married would mean support, but Lucy stole him fromtoo." Maybe he didn't take over-maybe he was Lucy all along.

Chloe mumbled a few more words, but the booze won out and she passed out cold." Seeing her curled up on the huge bed, Michael felt a deep pang of sorrow.

He'd never noticed how tiny she was before, like she was just skin stretched over bones.

Michael rubbed his temples, still processing what Chloe had just said.

Her pitiful act when she got drunk almost had him fooled.

Back when he spent all that twith Lucy abroad, she was nothing like Chloe described-always fighting over everything.

Chapter 51: Nightmare 2/4 She was a standout talent, never wasting the Nelson family's money on fun. Instead, she focused on her studies and excelled. That's why she's now working at Paramount Airlines.

But Chloe's words didn't seem fake.

"Is one of them lying?" he wondered.

Just then, the person on the bed started to gag.

Michael was speechless once again. He called for the maid to clean up.

Once he finished tidying up, he ordered, "Get her shangover remedy and prepare slight food." The servant nodded and left, leaving him alone with Chloe.

He opened the window to air out the room, letting the smell of alcohol escape. After tucking her in with a blanket, he headed to the bathroom to get swater.

He gently wiped her body with a damp cloth. Chloe, half-asleep, finally began to feel a bit more comfortable. He grabbed her pajamas from the closet and helped her change.

The servant brought the hangover remedy. He propped Chloe up, letting her lean on his shoulder. "Chloe, take shangover pills before you crash, or you'll have a killer headache tomorrow." Chloe didn't want to get up. She felt like she was just about to drift off when she was rudely awakened. With a groan, she turned her head away, clearly annoyed.

Michael, unusually patient, gently soothed her.

"Con, just take a sip." Chloe slowly calmed down, soothed by his deep, gentle voice.

After Michael managed to get her to drink half the bowl of medicine, she started causing a fuss and refused to take any more.

He had no choice but to help her lie back down.

Michael stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, dialing Ethan. "Unlock all of Chloe's backup cards," he instructed.

In the dead of night, that single sentence nearly threw Ethan off balance.

He groggily rubbed his eyes and mumbled, "Uh... sure thing, Mr. Shawn!" The call dropped.

Chloe had a rough night's sleep.

Chapter 51: Nightmare She had countless dreams, each one a fragment of her past.

She found herself back on that stormy day when Charles passed away. Outside, the rain poured down relentlessly. Inside the chapel, all was silent. Wendy stood there, quietly wiping away her tears. The next moment, two figures stepped into the church-a grown-up and a child.

They stood before their father's coffin, and the adults made the little girl bow to him.

The church was in chaos. Wendy was screaming, while Chloe knelt nearby, trembling. As Lucy's mom led her away, she shot back a smug, challenging grin.

"Chloe, you'll never measure up to me!" You'll never outshinein a million lifetimes...

The words felt like a nightmare, pulling Chloe into another dream realm.
