Chloe didn't want to get up. She felt like she was just about to drift off when she was rudely awakened. With a groan, she turned her head away, clearly annoyed.
Michael, unusually patient, gently soothed her.
"Con, just take a sip." Chloe slowly calmed down, soothed by his deep, gentle voice.
After Michael managed to get her to drink half the bowl of medicine, she started causing a fuss and refused to take any more.
He had no choice but to help her lie back down.
Michael stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, dialing Ethan. "Unlock all of Chloe's backup cards," he instructed.
In the dead of night, that single sentence nearly threw Ethan off balance.
