Chapter 485 Maggie's Story Smith didn't tell her that he would leave the day after tomorrow.
"The sooner you get the treatment, the faster you'll recover. Isn't that what you said?" He asked.
She did say that. Chloe thought she would be relieved now that this narcissistic man was leaving, but for sreason, she felt a little sad.
"What? You can't bear to seeleave, Chloe? Don't tellyou've developed feelings for me." James's joking tone extinguished the little bit of guilt in Chloe.
She rolled her eyes. It turned out that she couldn't have any real feelings for this man.
"I wanted to ask you for a favor, but since you're leaving the day after tomorrow, forget it." It seemed that James couldn't help her deal with her and William's issue.
"Tellabout it. If it's interesting, I could postpone my departure." James suddenly becinterested. After spending so long back home, he was incredibly bored and in no rush to go to Mamaica if Chloe could share something captivating.

If you can't fix the surveillance, you might as well retire early and enjoy retirement." Chloe gritted her teeth. This man indeed had a sharp tongue.
"I believe someone else has instructed him to do it, so I wanted to draw out whoever is pulling the strings. Originally, I thought you could assist with an emergency rescue." "Takeas a free bodyguard?" "You can get paid if you want." James chuckled. His interactions with Chloe had always been characterized by this playful banter.
"I'll be leaving no later than the end of the month. Before then, I'll lend a hand if I can." Chloe felt relieved when he agreed, but then she hesitated. "Won't this be too much trouble for you? Your surgery is more important after all." James raised his hand. "Enough. Don't get so corny. Right now, a simple 'thank you' is all I need." Chloe shrugged.
"Thanks." "You're welcome!" Chloe didn't expect that she would meet Maggie after coming out of Bright Moon International.
As she walked out of the Bright Moon International building, thinking it was by chance, she greeted her. "Ms. Xander? What a coincidence!" Maggie smiled and said, "Miss Nelson, it's not a coincidence. I chere specifically to see you." Chloe was stunned, not knowing why she was here to see her.
"Do you have tto chat with me?" In the coffee shop, Maggie ordered a cup of coffee and sat opposite Chloe, stirring it with a spoon. After a while, She looked up and said, "James and I have known each other since childhood." Chloe was a little confused, but she didn't interrupt her.
Maggie and James had known each other since they were in junior high school.
Back then, when she had just arrived abroad and was unfamiliar with everything she had thought about getting to know James more, but she hesitated because he was a boy, and she didn't want to be in his presence constantly.
It wasn't until they both attended the suniversity that James reconnected with her and began a vigorous pursuit.
At first, Maggie didn't take it seriously. After all, James was a privileged young man in school, with a father who was a military commander and a godfather who was a defense minister.
He practically owned the school, and Maggie kept her distance, not wanting to get involved with him.
But she didn't expect that James cornered her on the volleyball court, staring into her eyes and telling her in earnest that he liked her.
She admitted that she fell for him then.
They started dating and they had been deep in love ever since.
Then, there was a graduate school program, and there was only one spot available for the entire school.

It was James's father who found her and said that he hoped she could participate in this program with her this e grades and GPA, she would definitely be admitted as long as she applied. Maggie realized that he wanted her to leave James. "Young lady, I'll be honest with you.
James is going to join the military with me. He'll be so busy with drills and missions, handling grenades and guns, that he won't have much tfor a relationship." At first, Maggie thought that he was just like other rich people who looked down on her and felt that she was not worthy of James.
But James's father said she had misunderstood.
"I'm not trying to undermine you. I am a soldier myself, so I know how it goes. Once he's in the military, He ке won't be able to prioritize you. You're still young, smart, and beautiful, with a bright future ahead. There's no need to tie yourself down to James." Maggie righteously rejected James's father.
She declared that she and James were truly in love and even if James could only contact her once a month after joining the military, she would have no complaints.
But before James knew about this, Maggie was summoned for a talk by the school administration.
"Maggie, this opportunity to be an exchange student is rare for our m school. If you succeed you could secure a permanent residence certificate and settle there for life." Maggie's eyes flickered. X
