Alpha Mateo couldn’t hold back his sarcasm. “Take down Ulrich? That guy’s cunning as hell. He's
also got deep ties with witches!”
I’m serious. There’s a chance right now. If you're too sleepy to think straight, I'll wait till you wake
up.”
“Hold up.” Mateo still sounded suspicious. “Where’s Henry? If you’ve got something big planned,
why aren’t you asking him?“-
1 didn’t tell him about Alpha Henry’s infection. That was top-secret information in the Shadowmoon
Pack. And Mateo was a power player in his own right-if he found out Henry was sick, what if he got
ambitious and tried to seize control of the Shadowmoon Pack?
It wasn’t a risk | was willing to take. | pressed my lips together and simply said, “He’s got things to
handle. Besides, when it comes to surprise attacks, you're sharper than he is.”
“Tch. Like | don’t have my own life.” Mateo snorted, clearly annoyed. Then he asked, “Where are
you right now?”
“FlPack.”
He clicked his tongue. “That far out?”
“And?” | prompted.
“Last question.”

“Alright. I'm coming now.”
After | hung up, | couldn't help but laugh a little. The way Mateo had asked that last question... it sounded like we
were sneaking around behind Henry's back like we were having skind
of affair.
Just then, Yardley walked over to report that the medics in our team had already started collecting firsthand data
from the infected. As long as they maintained proper precautions, they could begin clinical interviews. Having
direct subjects would help us accelerate our progress immensely.

The rest of the warriors had gone to clear out an abandoned hospital nearby. That would be our base for the
virus research center.
Everything was moving in order.
Henry’s POV
Back at the Shadowmoon Pack, | gripped my phone with an awful expression.
It had been days. Not a single damn call. That omega...
| left the house to blow off ssteam. As | walked into the garden, | heard voices arguing ahead. Turning the
corner, | spotted my beta, Cam, talking with one of the warriors-Rowin, the intel officer. Cam was holding a file.
“Beta, are we really not going to tell the Alpha about this?”
He was facing away, but | knew that voice anywhere.
Cam's face was stern. “If you want to get the Alpha killed, go ahead and tell him.”
Rowin went silent. But my heart slammed hard in my chest. | stepped forward at once and ordered, “Givethe
file.”
Cam turned around. His face twitched. “Alpha, it’s nothing important. | can take care of it.”
He tried to walk off. | released my Alpha aura, crushing down on him with full force.
“Give. It. To. Me.”
Cam turned pale and handed it over. | opened the file and scanned it. It was a basic personnel
transfer order. The only unusual part was that the soldiers listed were being deployed to the town
of Sineville-in the FlPack’s territory.
“What are they doing there? Did Aubrey contact you? Is something wrong? Are we reinforcing her?”
Cam shook his head. “No, Alpha. I just thought things were getting a little unstable over there and
wanted to send extra protection for Ms. Mary.”
I nodded slightly, but pressed, “Then why did you say tellingwould getkilled?”
Cam froze. Then, flustered, he explained, “Alpha, | was afraid you’d act on impulse and insist on
going there yourself. But Ms. Mary made it clear-you’re not allowed to go.”
I stared at him until his face turned white.
Finally, | let out a cold snort. “Double the number of warriors going to protect Aubrey.”

“And from now on, you’re not allowed to block any information related to her. Do it again, and I'll
strip you of your position as my second-in-command.”
Cam went pale but still replied, “Yes, Alpha...”
